Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson both received their recent exam results last week and have both aced
them. Emma received eight A*s and two As in the GCSEs, while Dan received three A’s for his AS-levels.
Dan will be taking a year off from school due to his film and stage commitments and was said
by his publicist to “be over the moon” with his results.

Well done. It is really nice to see them succeed with all of the commitments they have. Interesting how the grades seem to parallel their characters a bit.

Over the moon is a funny phrase. I can picture it being used by a muggle-born in one of the books and Hermione describing the origin, something about Duffy Clothespin the elder being so happy he rode his broom in orbit around the moon.

What great results! Way to go!
I hope Dan finishes school--it's always good to have that to fall back on if acting jobs slow down.

Hmm, well that's always to here. Emma really is Hermione, isn't she; He he. Glad I've never had to do huge big tests and exams, I've been home schooled all my life, none of the nonsense; much easier to learn when there is not extreme amounts of preasure on you. Anyway, congrats to Dan and Emma.

I suspect they had extra tutoring (not saying they're not smart of course). But if they got bad grades, critics would blame commitment to the Potter movies for them. Nice work though.

Wow, this is amazing!! Emma is so smart and I am so jealous!!! I am so happy for them both though, I know if I took them(the GCESE's are pretty much like the regents here in America, I think. The highest I got on a Regents was recently in French, 91!)
A whole year off of school, that is amazing. I wish I could do that, I would spend day and night writing my Ron and Hermione fanfics, doing myspace stuff.

Congrats to them. I have no idea what those exams are, but that's still great about acing them. I hope Dan taking off school for a year means we'll be seeing a bit more of him, maybe in other films. But I assume he's going to be busy finishing OotP and starting HBP.

Emma is such a little Hermione. haha. I'm so proud that she does so well whilst holding down a full time job.
And hooray for Dan as well. Its scary to take a year off from school. Most people who "take a year off" never go back. I hope he doesn't take that route.

Hmm, not really sure what they stand for but Congrats anyway! Haha, it reminds me of the way JKR satirizes the names of the exams in the books.

I wonder how I'd feel if the entire world new my exam results. I mean, especially when they're pretty major as well. I know I'd freak if everyone knew what had happened in my end-of-year exams! And another thing - how does the media find out about all this stuff?
Anyway. I'm not familiar with the British education system, but I'm fairly confident that GCSEs are the equivelent of our Year 10 exams and AS-levels are like VCE and HSC. And I think A* is like and A+ - so, wow! Congrats to both!
What happened with Dan's other subjects. He can't have only taken three exams? What qualifications do you get from finishing school in three subjects?!

Wow, way to go Dan and Emma! I haven't gotten straight A's since I was in 8th grade. And with all the time they have to be at work, it's amazing they found the time to study enough to get straight A's. Good for them!
