It was announced this weekend at the Edinburgh International Film Festival that Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe will star in the British TV station ITV's production of My Boy Jack, the true story of Rudyard Kipling and his son Jack who was tragically killed during the First World War. Filming of the drama will take place next summer and be screened next autumn on ITV.
Dan had this to say about this new venture:
For many people my age, the First World War is just a topic in a history book. But, I've always been fascinated by the subject and think its as relevant today as it ever was with young men all over the world still sacrificing their lives in the name of war.
I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like in the trenches, living amongst the stench of death and knowing that at any moment it may be your last. But, I think its important we try to imagine the horrors these young men experienced and to never forget them.
I am extremely proud to be part of the production of My Boy Jack and only hope I can do justice to the memory of the men who fought and those who died.
The drama was written by and will also star actor/writer David Haig

I am glad for all the actors that are able to branch out. I was worried that they would be stuck as the trio forever and never get any more work. It is admirable to see he take such an interest in WW1.

Is it just me or Dan seem to be getting skinnier. I mean it's not bad or anything but I just made the observation. Maybe it's just b/c his hair isn't shaggy. I like the shaggy hair.

I'd be interested in seeing that as I have a bit of an interest in world war I. Not as much as my interest in WWII but it's still wonderful to know that some of our young appreciate that sort of history and understands that we are impacted to this day by our past history.

He has gotten skinnier, but I think it is him just growing. He did get a bit buffed up in GOF, but lost it all. He did start working out while filming GOF, so maybe he is taking exercising seriously and is eating healthier. Maybe he isn't doing much weight lifting, but maybe more cardio, conditioning (example: pilates), and stretching (example: yoga). I don't know. He looks good no matter.
He looks hot in those pics!!! *drools*
Anyway, I think this is a great career move. As long as it doesn't interfere with HP, I don't mind. I hope the US gets to see it somehow. I don't have BBC America, but maybe another channel can show it.
