Well at least in the BigBadRead poll. JK Rowling's creation, Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter novels, was voted
as the favorite literary villain of all time by British schoolchildren.
The BigBadRead poll was conducted by Bloomsbury, had more than 16,000 votes and JK had this to say of the honor:
I am thrilled and honoured beyond words that Lord Voldemort has been voted best villain in the BigBadRead poll.
I am not sure how he would react ot knowing that he had won a Muggles' unpopularity poll. A mixture of pleasure that you recognised his power and menace, coupled with fury at your nerve at mentioning his real name, I think. His author, however, is absolutely delighted.

The Dark Lord reigns supreme! That's awesome. He has to be my most favourite character from the Harry Potter novels. I find his story absolutely fascinating. One of the things I love about J.K.R.'s writing is how she is able to make her characters so detailed; how they feel so real. It is a ability that I hope I will someday be able to achieve in my own writing. I 'spose only time will tell if I am possible of such great writing.

Just goes to show you it is SOO good to be SOOOO bad. In his own way I guess VODERMORT really is COOL. Look at were he came from. A Noting boy in a less then nothjing town. AND NOW his name is SOOO famouse others dare not speak his name. Now thats whaty I call NAME RECONITION. Even without mentoning a name he is VERY well known. and like Alivan said.
He went and did GREAT things... Terrible things... But GREAT.
No wonder he won the poll.

Um, congrats to voldermort? not really, but i agree with him winning as the ultimate villian. i love the lord of the rings book, but they never go into sauron in depth and so i hardly think of him as an actual character. more spirit. with voldermort...he's an actual being with personality and such.
