Rowling squashes book 7 status Popular (56866)

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has updatedopens in new window her site to squash part of a recent article that appeared in the press a few days ago. A tabloid paper in the UK quotedopens in new window Ms. Rowling as saying that "I’m up to about 750 pages now."

JKR posted on her site earlier today:

JKR has written 750 pages of book 7, and told a journalist this at the tea party for 'Driving Lessons'.

Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. I haven't written 750 pages of book seven, and if I had, I'd be very worried, as I'm not close to finishing it yet.

I was at the tea party for Driving Lessons, though, so this isn't pure fiction. The journalist reports that I said that Rupert is 'absolutely terrific' in the film. He is, so that bit shouldn't be in the rubbish bin at all.

Thanks to Peter and everyone who emailed.

Well, I'd hope she had written 750 pages, because knoing her they would porbably be 750 awesome pages and the more to read the better... but obviuosly that would be what she's call 'too much'.
I really can't wait until next year. Shouldn't she be close to finishing the book already? i mean the release is only like 10 months away and I know editing and printing takes a long time. Hopefully, everything will be perfect and the book will be in our hands on July on next year!

750 pages wouldn't be that bad, but I am sad that she is not nearly finished with writing the book yet.

I hadn't heard the rumor so this was news to me, but I love any updates from JKR so I guess there is a positive here. I, too, would love book 7 to be long, er, endless, actually, so I wouldn't be upset about 750 pages either!

That's great that JKR is supporting Rupert's other endeavors!

Well if JK says it, it must be true. I mean why would she lie about her own book. although i do wonder what page she is on.

Well Good God how much more does she have to write if she's been doggedly working since January?! She sounds like she's not actually 750 pages in, so maybe 500. And she says she's not close to finishing so she's clearly not wanting a BIG book. When is she going to "wrap it up" if she's not close to finishing but "pretty far in"? I mean, it's like she's two-thirds in maybe, around the vacinity of say, Harry getting Hagrid and Slughorn drunk in HBP kind of area. Plenty plenty more to go, but not close to finishing. Hmmmm.
