Harry Potter author JK Rowling has updated
her site to squash part of a recent article that appeared in the press a few days ago. A tabloid paper in the UK quoted
Ms. Rowling as saying that "I’m up to about 750 pages now."
JKR posted on her site earlier today:
JKR has written 750 pages of book 7, and told a journalist this at the tea party for 'Driving Lessons'.
Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. I haven't written 750 pages of book seven, and if I had, I'd be very worried, as I'm not close to finishing it yet.
I was at the tea party for Driving Lessons, though, so this isn't pure fiction. The journalist reports that I said that Rupert is 'absolutely terrific' in the film. He is, so that bit shouldn't be in the rubbish bin at all.
Thanks to Peter and everyone who emailed.

I wouldn't mind if it were 750 pages or more.
But I am sad to hear she isn't close to finishing yet. I hoped she would at the point of just putting in the finishing touches and polishing it up by now.
Oh well, I guess I will just have to wait until it's done.

Really??? That's seriously depressing.
I was hoping she'd say she was at least close to finishing it, but I guess not. Still, at least she's given us an update. That's something...

Its the last one soo it has to end everything nicely.
It definately would be nice if the book was 750 pages already because then I would be loser to being able to read it.

There would be no way that she would be up to 750 pages but it would be pretty cool though.

Harry's Echo says:
750?? I hope book seven is at least 1750 pages long!!! It's going to be such a sad/exciting day all at once!
I read in my newspaper today that Rowling was trying to fly back to the UK from the US, and had the book seven manuscript with her, and security wanted her to put it in her checked luggage!! She argued and eventually was allowed on the plane with it, but can you imagine putting the manuscript in her luggage and if the luggage was lost or stolen??? I know she writes most of the time by hand, so there are probably very few (if any)copies of what she's done so far!! Crazy!
Thank you to the delightful security personel who eventually let Ms. Rowling onboard with Harry!

I can't wait! I'm glad that she is already at 750 pages and isn't close to being done yet, because it would be nice to get a long book for the last one. I hope it doesn't come out too close to HP5 the movie, because I need to spread out my Harry Potter happiness. :)

It's good to know that Rowling is standing up to the press, and also to know the truth and not get fans' hearts up on a book that isn't coming out for a while.

Wow, 750 pages, that really would have been amazing if the book would be 750 + pages. I doubt it's that long from what we've heard her say.

Personally, I wouldn't mind at all if book seven turned out to be so long that it has to be split into two books. It would postpone that dreaded day when we all finish reading the last Harry Potter book. *sobs* :(

Well, it's nice to know that the book wont, be 1500 pages long, although I'm sure I would enjoy reading it even if it was. On the other hand, I don't like the comment that 'I'm not even that far through the book yet!' Ahhhhh...how long will be have to wait????

I'll read #7 no matter how long it is! Since it's to be the last, I do hope it is long. On the other hand, I wish it were done too (so I could read it).
Why must the press always publish such unfounded speculation? (just a thought, not really expecting an answer).

If the book was finished to early that it would be all smushed together; But when she takes her time with it it will be a lot better; So i would rather have it take longer and be better then to be put out and all scatterbrained
