Rowling squashes book 7 status Popular (56866)

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has updatedopens in new window her site to squash part of a recent article that appeared in the press a few days ago. A tabloid paper in the UK quotedopens in new window Ms. Rowling as saying that "I’m up to about 750 pages now."

JKR posted on her site earlier today:

JKR has written 750 pages of book 7, and told a journalist this at the tea party for 'Driving Lessons'.

Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. I haven't written 750 pages of book seven, and if I had, I'd be very worried, as I'm not close to finishing it yet.

I was at the tea party for Driving Lessons, though, so this isn't pure fiction. The journalist reports that I said that Rupert is 'absolutely terrific' in the film. He is, so that bit shouldn't be in the rubbish bin at all.

Thanks to Peter and everyone who emailed.

I am so excited for the book to come out, but don't want the series to end! I for one want this book-the last- to be really really long! But I also want to find out what happens! So confused, yet excited. At least we got a snippet of an update.

I wouldn't mind if it were 750 pages or more.

But I am sad to hear she isn't close to finishing yet. I hoped she would at the point of just putting in the finishing touches and polishing it up by now.

Oh well, I guess I will just have to wait until it's done.

Shame she is not close to finishing yet. At least we have the new film next year to keep us going. Maybe she keeps changing her mind about the ending.....

It would be so cool if there was more than 750 pages because when you like a book alot you read in really quick. If there was more than 750 pages it would take us longer. It would be so cool if whe was almost finished but since she isnt we all just have to wait.

For some ODD reason I believe JK Rowling over Journalist. (Go figure... Maybe I am Just PREDIJICE against journalists... or maybe its because I TRUST JK more.)

It would have been grand for her to already have written 750 pages that would meant the book could have been 1500 pages and I would have been in heaven.

I thought that sounded awfully fishy. It's extremely difficult to write that much at all, much less within a year. Of course with JKR anything is possible, but it still sounded too superhuman even for her. ;)

While I am glad she has finally let us know that she does indeed pay attention to all the publicity and statements attributed to her.

However, I have to admit that part of me is upset. She says that she is no where near being done <<She also states that if she had 750 pages and not being any where near being done would be disturbing to her, why? This is the final book it should take as many pages as it takes, regardless of how many pages it is.

I am just glad she is paying attention so she probably is more than aware that we are chomping at the bit for something, anything to let us know what is going on.

I actually feel really sorry for her at the moment. Famous people like that tend to have lies printed about them all the time. Its so typical of journalists to make stuff like that up. I'm glad she is not rushing and taking the time to write a brilliant book. I hope it will be really long and take me a few days to read as opposed to my usual 5 hours.

That's good to hear. If she did write 750 pages already, it would mean she's rushing through the book, and she didn't plan anything out, edit, stuff like that. I'm so happy that she confirmed she's not nearly done. Those british tabloids, wow...I've heard so many stories from those tabloids about the HP cast, its unbelievable. Dan great a foot in a month, Emma got drunk at her sweet 16th party and did "you know what" with a guy towards the end, and now JK Rowling done with the book...what will they think of next? I don't trust them at all...
