Emma Watson wants to go with the flow Popular (22440)

In a new interview from the set of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Emma Watson mentionsopens in new window that she is unsure if she will commit to the remaining films saying: "I don't know yet. Every film is such a huge production, and it's a long time."

She also discussesopens in new window filming Phoenix, her co-stars, flying and boys.

Do you think you want to be an actress for the rest of your career?

Emma: I don't know. Daniel and Rupert seem so sure. I don't know. I wouldn't want Harry Potter to be the last thing I do. Nothing is ever going to be quite on the scale of this. I appreciate that. And also I've come into acting in such a funny way. Most people who want to act have to sit through hours of auditioning and work their way up, whereas I seemed to have come straight in at the top, having had no experience at all. That's quite a strange position to be in, but amazing at the same time because it has given me so many options and choices. I definitely would like to do other films to see what it's like. I'd really like to try some theater, actually, because I think I would really enjoy that immediate response from an audience. I love making people laugh. I love to perform, but there are so many things I love doing. [Pause] Maybe that seems ungrateful. I have been given such an amazing opportunity, but I'll just have to go with the flow and see what happens.

Why does she torture us so!!

She is always alluding to the fact that she would not do more movies. Is it really a ply for more money (I would think she and Rupert would get paid about the same and Dan makes slightly more). It seems to me after doing 5/7 movies you might as well go for 6 and 7.

I think she needs to stop worrying us and WB should rope them into a 2(or 3 depending on the length of book7) movie deal to finish out the series!

Like most people here I'd like Emma to stay on and finish the series but I also think it's her life. If staying on will make her miserable then what's the point?

I don't think she's being ungrateful, I just think that your mid-late teens is an awkward time and you're so unsure about many aspects of your life at that age. I think a person's happiness should come first and Emma seems far more interested in her education than in acting. If she continues with these films she may have to defer going to university and I get the feeling she doesn't want to put that off. So whatever she decides I wish her every success but I'll be praying inside that she sticks with acting and finishes the HP films.

She can't not do it surely. It just won't be the same if any of the cast changes. I am sure WB will confince her to continue, as will the fans.

She is confused, I do not blame her, even with the fame and money, at 16, anyone at that age can be confused. Hopefully she stays to do the last two movies, they would not be the same without her.

Ohh no!

I hope she stays! She's one of the best casted people in the film!

But I do understand why she wants to do tome theater after all those films!
It must be weird never getting any respond from an audience. - And anyway I love theater! ;)

The comments about Emma are really misleading if you ask me.
The original question was:
Do you think you want to be an actress for the rest of your career?
Where she replied she wasn't sure, to me that is a big difference in saying do you want to do the remainingg Potter films.
I for one think she will be there, she is young and if she is worried about being typecast, she is young enough to work her way out of it. She's not stupid and I think it would be the worst mistake, she would live to regret her entire life.
Hang in there Emma, dont get all crazy on us! ;)

I'm sorry, but I believe that she should be obligated to do the rest. Even Dan and Rupert. We are talking a huge franchise. We are talking a huge thing that people, die hard Potter fans. Die hard potter fans should not see new people in these roles so close to the end.

I know they have their own lives but Harry is 7 books, its not like, oh wait a minute, (JK saying this) I think I will write an 8th. They are absolutely positively done after 7. Just do it, I think you owe it to your fans as well as Potter fans.

Sorry if I sound mean, because I really don't mean to be.

I hope she does the rest of the movies, too. I know that, even if the movie was absolutely perfect, if any one of the main characters was different, I wouldn't like it. That's just me. But I hope that she does get to do some other things as well, she seems to really want to try some theater.

Well, she sounds like it becoming a bit overwhelming for her. It's a lot of work and a lot of time--she really hasn't had any time to just be a kid. None of them have... It sounds like fun, but it really is a lot of work. I would miss her as Hermione though. She's really fabulous. :o)

If she wouldn't mind someone younger, my son just adores her... ;o)

Well I'd hate to see any of the original actors go, they're so seered into our minds as the characters they play.

That said, I've felt from the word go that Emma is the least talented of the young actors, especially the trio. Sorry, I know some people won't like that but it's the way I feel about it.

So I don't want her to go, but if one had to go...

I think that's good she is thinking ahead... I can't blame her for that... but I couldn't picture another Hermione... Any of the minor characters I couldn't give two squats for... but the main characters have to be the same... Just like w/Dumbledore... I think Gambdon is doing a fine job, but he just isn't Dumbledore!!!
