In a new interview from the set of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Emma Watson mentions
that she is unsure if she will commit to the remaining films saying: "I don't know yet. Every film is such a huge production, and it's a long time."
She also discusses filming Phoenix, her co-stars, flying and boys.
Do you think you want to be an actress for the rest of your career?
Emma: I don't know. Daniel and Rupert seem so sure. I don't know. I wouldn't want Harry Potter to be the last thing I do. Nothing is ever going to be quite on the scale of this. I appreciate that. And also I've come into acting in such a funny way. Most people who want to act have to sit through hours of auditioning and work their way up, whereas I seemed to have come straight in at the top, having had no experience at all. That's quite a strange position to be in, but amazing at the same time because it has given me so many options and choices. I definitely would like to do other films to see what it's like. I'd really like to try some theater, actually, because I think I would really enjoy that immediate response from an audience. I love making people laugh. I love to perform, but there are so many things I love doing. [Pause] Maybe that seems ungrateful. I have been given such an amazing opportunity, but I'll just have to go with the flow and see what happens.

Having a different person play Hermione now would just ruin the entire series. But I can understand how she isn't really sure about what she wants to do with her life and whether or not acting is what she really wants to do. I know people 10 years older than her that still don't know what to do with their lives. But I wish her all the luck in whatever she chooses.

I really do hope she stays on. I can understand her fear of being typecasted and losing her chance to be in different productions. I'm not sure why she wouldn't do what Daniel and Rupert did and take smaller jobs in between, but of course we can't fault her for doing what feels right even if it's upsetting.

Oh no. I really hope she sticks to the end. I like her as Hermione i dont think i could see anyone else as Hermione but her. I got used to her after the second film. I think she should keep acting and trying new stuff like Rupert and Dan, well if she wants to. She's a good actress, she'd do good in the business.

It certainly wouldn't be an ideal situation changing actresses at this point. After all, Emma IS Hermione now to a lot of people, and I think that fans would be somewhat resentful of any other person undertaking the role. That said, it does occupy such a huge part of her life, that I can sympathise with her wish to perhaps just have some sort of privacy and freedom once again. I do hope she stays, though.

Emma is really great. Of course we'd all love for her to be Hermione through the 7th film, but she does make a great point that she's only 16 and may actually have other things that interest her more going forward. I respect that she says she's not sure what she wants to be when she "grows up."

This is one of the scarriest things I have ever read. I mean, really, she has to finish the series. There is nothing worse than a change of actor halway through a sereis (look at DD, he's doing a good job but, sigh, well all miss you-know-who).

Umm, I'm really unsure of this whole idea.
The movies to me are exciting becuase you get to see the same people.
But..... If she wants to leave thats her decison. I think that many people will be mad if she doesn't continue, but hey, that just means that someone will get that role that really wants it.

If I remember correctly, back when the SS/PS movie came out, there were questions as to whether the trio would be in the fourth film, and then fifth. There have always been doubts on the actors returning, yet they continue to make the next movie. I'm guessing Emma will come back for HBP.

She has to do the remaining two! Five down, only two more to go. Hopefully she will stay on and do the last two. I think its great that they are negotiating now for the final two, as opposed to doing them one at a time. So close to the end.
It just won't be the same if they change any of the actors. If they do, I won't watch the films. At all. You need to keep the same people so the story flows on. We have watched them grow up on films and they have all made the characters their own. And for that reason, no one else could do the characters justice.
What will I do with myself after the last movie is finished!?!?!
