In a new interview from the set of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Emma Watson mentions
that she is unsure if she will commit to the remaining films saying: "I don't know yet. Every film is such a huge production, and it's a long time."
She also discusses
filming Phoenix, her co-stars, flying and boys.
Do you think you want to be an actress for the rest of your career?
Emma: I don't know. Daniel and Rupert seem so sure. I don't know. I wouldn't want Harry Potter to be the last thing I do. Nothing is ever going to be quite on the scale of this. I appreciate that. And also I've come into acting in such a funny way. Most people who want to act have to sit through hours of auditioning and work their way up, whereas I seemed to have come straight in at the top, having had no experience at all. That's quite a strange position to be in, but amazing at the same time because it has given me so many options and choices. I definitely would like to do other films to see what it's like. I'd really like to try some theater, actually, because I think I would really enjoy that immediate response from an audience. I love making people laugh. I love to perform, but there are so many things I love doing. [Pause] Maybe that seems ungrateful. I have been given such an amazing opportunity, but I'll just have to go with the flow and see what happens.

She always seems to change her mind but shes right she is really lucky and should respect that. I know they are doing all the harry potters as movies and seeing as dan and rupert want to do them i dont think emma will leave hermione to another actress because shes said she wouldnt like that.

I really hope she stays for the rest of the films, it wouldn't be the same without her!!! Pretty interesting interview, though.

I enjoyed reading that interview. I second that 16 is a turbulent age & I cant stand it either when people bug me about the future. I have no idea. I mean Emma should only stay in the series if she really wants to, it would be awful if she grows up to think the films robbed her of her childhood or something. It would be strange if she just dissapeard from one movie to the next, but I guess thats expected from the fandom view.

Well to be totally honest, I won't really care that much if she decides not to do the two final films. Personally, I'm sick of all the hype over Emma Watson. In my opinion - and this is only my opinion - she is NOT that great an actress, AT ALL. It just does not come naturally to her, and I think it takes away from the films to have someone like her playing Hermione. But whatever... it would kind of suck to have someone new come in and ruin the continuity of the thing... we'll see what happens.

Well, I certainly like her candor, but it's awful to think she may not want to return... I get it, I understand that it's a lot of hours and a lot of work, but SHE's Hermione!

It would be really sad if she did not continue. I would also be surprised if she did not. At this point, she should see it through and work for consistency.

She doesn't seem too sure that she is going to do the last two movies. Those movies would not be the same without her, changing the actor for Hermione is pointless when you have done more than half the series of movies.

No way!! She would have to come back to be Hermione. It just wouldn't be the same. I'm sure she realizes that. And I really just hope she decides to do whatever makes her happy. I just have to hope that includes the final two Harry Potter movies. ;)

For god's sake why hasn't someone tried to get our stars to sighn a contract for the remaining movies yet! I really hope Emma doesn't leave the cast, I'd be really upset but I suppose it's her decision not ours. Please don't leave us!

Nooo, you should finish out the movies. It's only two more, and you could do theather on the side, like Daniel and Rupert have. It just wouldn't be the same if it were another Hermione.

It would be a shame and a disappointment for Emma to not be in all of the movies, but it's definitely her life. I would hope that she would think of what she and the character mean to the HP world. She would me inconcievably missed.

I really hope that she sticks with it... If she doesn't, we'll be landed with the sort of situation we were in when Richard Harris died after the CoS. Replacements never seem to be as good as the original actors/actresses, unless they're really exceptional...

Wow. This is big news. I remember all of us thinking that the studios might not want them after a certain time because of thier age. Now it seems that the studios have caught on to the fact that the HP movies would be doomed to not have the trio but we have to worry about the trio not wanting to continue!
That thought really never crossed my mind. I guess I just figured they'd want it to last as long as it could! Well I hope that she decides to continue it. Even if she doesn't want to be an actress for the rest of her life, she should at least complete what she's started. I mean she is only 16. she'd be 20 or 21 when they are all over! That is still plenty young enough to go to college and begin a new career and a new life!

As if Emma Watson wouldn't sign on! At the end of the day Warner Brothers will throw so much money at her that she couldn't not do it really. This would all be a tactic to get more cash, I guarantee it!
As much as I tend to question her acting abilities, she really has made Hermione her own and it would be disappointing to see anyone else take the role.

I certainly admire Ms Watson's honesty. I do hope that she will continue becuase this series of films seems like one long film to we fans and it would truely not be the same without her. That being said, if she is tuely unhappy about the prospect it would be a shame for her to continue for other people.

It sounds like Emma is a really humble person and really does appreciate the opportunities she's been given. I am glad to see that she's still up in the air on what she wants to do, and keeping her options open.
