The most challenged series ever... yeah I can see that! But people ban books? if they don't like it don't read it! I can't see their problem, God! What's wrong with Harry Potter? because of the magic? how stupid..... a successful book is one that can make people talk about for a loooong time... yeah Harry Potter is No.1 !!!

The books have been embraced and loved worldwide, and therefore the ill educated extremists feel they should challenge it.

I absolutely hate it when people challenge books. If you don't like what the book is about, then don't read it!!! The people who enjoy these books realize that they are for entertainment and fictional. Some people really need to get a life.

While I didn't realize there was a whole week dedicated to banned books it's no surprise that Harry Potter is no. 1 there are so many people who just don't understand how good it is.

Come on Darwin's book on Evolution had raised some eyebrows back then and still does today.

Banned books!!! BAH!!! (shakes head head in disgust) (sighs and thinks) Well, we all have to have our something to complain about, don't we?
At least HP in number one!!! The controversy gives HP plenty of press time too. Good advertising. Besides what's the first thing I kid wants when you tell them they can't have it? Reverse psychology...sneaky. Kids love to rebel and seek out what they are not supposed to have. Makes me snicker as I'm shaking my head.
One last thought, if we ban everything people don't like or believe is appropriate. What is left for parents to do as parents? Shouldn't they be parenting their own children? Why should our government(s) have to do everything for us? I feel thet government in the US already tells us how to take care of ourselves way too much! I'm a big girl and I'm teaching my children to take care of themselves.

I never knew there was a banned book week thing. I can understand why HP came top on the list though. I've heard loads of things about how it's meant to be all evil and against Christianity and stuff. And were'nt alot of people burning them in protest in America at one point?

I wonder who comes up with these titles for this list? How about The Giver? That's an award winner, and I found that disturbing. Or "Where The Heart is," the book, the jail part with the boyfriend. I found those problematic, still I wouldn't ban them for everybody. And I read "Forever" by Judy Blume in sixth grade, and that is NOT 12 year old material, I'll tell you.
Instead of banning books, something as innocuous as Harry Potter particularly, we need parental involvement with their OWN child, not everybody else's. Let each parent decide what is age appropriate for their own children. I don't need my neighbor telling me what my children can and can't read.

think captain underpants is "questionable" because it's directed toward yound children but it's about underwear and other things that are taboo for five year olds.
I don't think people should be opposed to books in the first place. they're just books, don't read it if you don't want to. Plus a lot of these books were banned from schools/ being taught in schools. By reading these books, students will actually expand their knowledge.
