Well, these fundamentalist and whatnot people just don't know what they're missing. But I think one thing that they don't seem to get is that when you ban something, or bring to attention something "evil" or risque in it, [i]every man, woman, and child is going to look for the nearest copy of said book, movie, etc.[i] It is just doing the opposite of what they want to accomplish. Unless they are trying to do it just so they can say "Ha ha!", which unfortunantly, many do.
I would also like to put in a shameless plug for the Alice series (for girls only though :)), at second place, because they are really awesome books, but talk about the dreaded s-e-x word, so are automatically evil.
I have a dream where we are free to read, watch, do, and think whatever we like with out being attacked. Where people don't try to force their beliefs on you. Where people are tolerant of beliefs that they do not share. I am afraid though, that this might just be a dream. . .

Hmmm...I'm a little curious about captain underpants...
Well, I think it says something when a book is on the most-challenged list. It means people are talking about it.

Haha, all I would do, if I could, is laugh all those people in the face who tried to ban Harry Potter. I say stop trying to prevent your kids from reading and better start outlawing gun ownership and violence on TV (goes out to US for most part).

Interesting to see the way a lot of people view the books. Of course fiction can inspire people to do things that are not always the best, but I fail to see how that argument pertains to HP.

Awww, that makes me so sad. Have these 'banners' actually read the books? I wonder...

This makes me want to read some of these books. Although, I've read Forever, and of course, Harry Potter, but I'm curious what the chocolate wars is about.

That makes sense, especially because of the recent attacks due to its so-called "evilness". I wonder why the Captain Underpants series is challenged so much???

If you will notice the books on the "banned" list are all amazing books and actually require teh reader to think for themselves and there is of course the whole good vs. evil aspect which we all know heaven forbid can't possibly be a good thing for readers. Sheese, people let it go, books are good and any book that makes a child want to read ought to be encouraged.

Well it's only there because Harry Potter is so huge. I think it's mostly because a lot of religous people believe witchcraft and wizardry to be a sin. Personally I don't agree, but everyone is entitled to there own opinion. It goes to show, Harry Potter makes it to no.1 on every list, even if it is the 'most challeneged' list. Thanks for the update. Rock on HP!

It's wrong for people to ban books because they are 'of the devil' or any other dumb, meaningless, or any other stupid reason like that. It's senseless and wrong. Even thought it's a most challenged list, It still rocks that Hp's numbah one.....well, sorta.

I didn't know they had a list like that. In a way it is a good thing because people are more likely to read those books just to see what all the fuss is about.

Just a testament to small-minded people. I feel bad for the kids who will not get a chance to feel the magic by reading about Harry.

I will never understand people who wish to ban Harry Potter. I could go on and on about them, but I won't. HP, however, will always have die-hard fans, and no ban will prevent that. (after all, as Hermione says, the one thing they could do to make people read HP is ban it!):-)
