If it's true, that exciting! I've seen some of his work and I'm thrilled if he does HP 6. Good luck, rest up, Mr. Yates!

Although David Yates seems to be a terrific director, I would really really, REALLY enjoy seeing Alfonso Cuaron back behind the camera filming Half- Blood Prince. The book is so dark it would just be amazing to see it in his vision!!

Wow! may 2007! Thats before OOTP , they won`t have much time off this year! I think thats cool, though maybe if some people hate OOTP they will go mad if he`s directing again... but I think he sounds good from what i`ve seen so far and that WB asked him again! :)
Anyway, thats cool! ;)

Well, that was quick! I've never seen any of his work, so let's hope he does a good job of it. Besides, we would have yet to see how OoTP comes about to know if he could be the one to direct HBP.

Hmmm...dunno if this is good or bad. Like many others have stated, I'll have to see OOTP before deciding if Yates would do the magic for me in HBP. Anyhow, it's not big surprise that WB asked him again. Cuaron was asked to stay back after POA and Newell was asked to stay back after GOF. Both refused. So we'll have to wait and see if Yates accepts it.

Order of the Pheonix must be really good if they are asking him to direct the next HP film as well!
I have to agree with ~*Veela Grl*~ in that i hope he does better than Alfonso Cuaron!! He did leave way too much out and when i watched it , as much as i enjoed GoF, felt like parts of it had been fast-forwarded and i was watching just snippets from the film (does that make sense?) - It's as if there is a whole other film out there with the missing bits becuase GoF didn't feel complete!! But still liked the film (liked, not loved!)
So i'm really hoping David does the book justice, becuase if he does i know i for one will be looking forward to HBP a whole lot more!! :)

I'm not gonna say I'm excited about this until I see how he does with OotP... hopefully he'll do well. I don't want to see another Colombus. (no offense)

I just hope that #6 & #7 are directed by the same person, as they're pretty much two halves of the same book.

I think this is probably great news. Yates will already have the HP mind-set and be able to roll right into the next movie. However, I was always under the impression they chose different directors because wrapping up one and staring another was just too much work for one person. This will work out very well if the 5th movie is good.
What would really make me happy is if they allowed the movie to be longer (less editing) and then replaced Gambon. But, alas, that is for another disucssion.

I believed that there would not be postings on HPANA that could not be confirmed. I find it interesting with all the speculation about what Ms. Watson is quoted as saying in a receint Newsweek article and how that has been twisted to present the opinion that she wants to leave, that this unsustantiated rumor would be posted without the very familiar warning to it's status.

Cool, that would be a good thing if he does a good job with OoTP.
Happy to hear that they're getting on with it and not leaving too long time between the two films.

Finally some stability when in comes to a directors. Apart from Chris Columbus directing the first two, I was beginning to think that every Harry Potter film was gonna have a different director. I 'spose there's nothing wrong with that, but it's be nice to actualy know who the director of HBP is going to be instead of having to learn that there's gonna be a new one, again.
Still, if I had my way, Chris Columbus would come back to direct Movie Seven. I think he's said before that he would like to do that, possibly, and I think it would be awesome if the Harry Potter film series got started with him and ended with him.
