News seems to have popped up online stating
that David Yates has been asked to direct Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Mr. Yates is expected to accept the offer, with filming to commence in May 2007, two months before the release of Order of the Phoenix.
We will update this information as soon as we can.

Wow. A director that will do two movies in a row after Columbus? Though I like having different directors, because they put their own little twist on the film. Although, they start filming early so the movie won't take long to come out (although I know there already is a release date). Thanks for the update.

I hope that that suggests that OotP will be great if they're asking him to do HBP, too. I really can't wait until OotP comes out. And HBP, of course!
Hopefully this is a good sign for the movies!

Well I can't wait to see the OoP to get a good sense of how he did with this latest movie. I hope they just keep getting better and better as we progress towards the 7th and final episode.

Oooo, exciting. I like the idea of having different directors for each of the movies, keeps each one fresh and new and has adifferent take on it (good and bad).

Well, I can't say anything about his work since OotP hasn't come out yet. I just hope that if they get the same director it means less time between films. Hopefully since they are starting the filming of HBP before Ootp Comes out. *fingers crossed*

Okay, I'm going to have a total blonde moment here, but he's directing OotP, right? Yes, yes, it was Heyman who did Goblet, right. So I'll have to wait and see how good a job he's done on Phoenix before I can feel happy or sad about this.

Oh, well, i don't care who directs the films as long as they don't stray too far from the books.

The people who make these movies really plan things well ahead of time! Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I guess that big movies have to be planned well in advance of filming because of all the wheeing and dealing and legal stuff.
Certainly not my cup of tea.

There must be a different director for each movie. They should just have gotten one and signed him into a contract saying he'd do them all.

If this is true then they really seem to be rushing into things.
The public won't even know if David Yates does a good job. What if he does poorly and they have already started filming for HBP.
I think they should ask Christopher Columbus or Alfonso Cauron again to do HBP.

Ravenclaw Tower Dude says:
Hmmm, I think they should wait to see how sucessful he is when Order of the Phoenix is released. Otherwise why would they re-hire him? I'm just thinking...But that would also be good. I get tired of flip-flopping directors. I wish they would have kept Chris Columbus for all of them being as Alfonso did a bad job on the third one. Mike Newell was pretty good, but I still think we should wait to see how sucessful this guy's production is before renewing his contract.
