Toby Jones, the voice of Dobby from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, confirmed
in a recent interview that his character will not be making an appearance in Order of the Phoenix.
Jones remarked:
I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them.
Jones also commments on being in the second movie, Chamber of Secrets:
The thing I feel very, very proud of is the fact that I get mail just about every week of the year from all parts of the world — very nice mail thanking me for that way I voiced the character and saying how accurately I did it. So it's a great addition to my life and a very unexpected one. I had no idea that the character would have that much impact.
The article also mentions that the character of Kreacher will be in the movie and that sharp eyed fans should be on the look out for clues that may happen since JK Rowling told screenwriters what is important to include in the movie adaptations.

I understand that the books get longer but it feels like without Dobby and Kreacher not being in the movie sucks. I mean they kept Dobby out of the 4th movie and stuff but it all really sucks and I wish they would bring both of them.

I imagined this would be the case. Most of what Dobby did in OotP can be done by someone else (like Neville in GoF.) The only thing that couldn't be edited would be Harry and Dumbledore both mentioning Dobby at Harry's hearing, and that can be edited out. I do hope Dobby will be in HBP, though, if they can squeeze him back into the plot at that point.
What I find much more interesting is what was said about looking for clues in the movie. Of course it makes perfect sense. The movie is basically a changed and highly edited version, so whatever stays in has to be important.
If Harry, Sirius and the Weasleys find a heavy golden locket in the Grimmauld Place drawing room, I'm calling my bookie and placing a bet on the identity of R. A. B.

You know that just STINKS that they are leaving Dobby out AGAIN!!!! He was essential in Goblet yet they left him out and now in Phoenix they are cutting him and that just hacks me off!!! I totally get it that they have to leave some things out of the books for the sake of time but I still say leave it long and put an intermission in it. I would be totally willing to pay a higher price for a longer more accurate reflection of the book.
Besides why did they feel the need to invent "Nigel" and leave out the Creevey brothers and now they are leaving Dobby out again!!!! Arrggg, that makes me mad.
