Toby Jones, the voice of Dobby from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, confirmed
in a recent interview that his character will not be making an appearance in Order of the Phoenix.
Jones remarked:
I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them.
Jones also commments on being in the second movie, Chamber of Secrets:
The thing I feel very, very proud of is the fact that I get mail just about every week of the year from all parts of the world — very nice mail thanking me for that way I voiced the character and saying how accurately I did it. So it's a great addition to my life and a very unexpected one. I had no idea that the character would have that much impact.
The article also mentions that the character of Kreacher will be in the movie and that sharp eyed fans should be on the look out for clues that may happen since JK Rowling told screenwriters what is important to include in the movie adaptations.

I like Dobby (even though he's a bit irritating). I wish he would get to be in Order of the Pheonix. I guess they'll have to make another way to find the Room of Requirement. Humph.

I'm so happy that Kreacher is going to be in the new movie. I'm gonna miss Dobby so much, he was such a great character, and he was cute, but Im really looking forward to seeing Kreacher, see what he looks like, stuff like that.

YES!!! Soooo.... oh wait... we have to wait for the 7th book anyway, and that comes out before the 5th movie... Darn it, I got my hopes up there for a second. Oh well... I'll just have to enjoy both movie and book... And I always read it on the first day anyway.... Well, Toby, you did do a good job on the movie. Why aren't they doing any more with dobby though?

All I can really say to this is that "this stinks" I wasn't really fond of Dobby at first but he really grew on me in the books and he was voiced very well in the movie. I really hope they include him in HBP because he is important!

Hmmm but Dobby plays such an important role in that book! I wonder how they are going to find the Room of Requirement now? I guess Sirius or the twins will tell Harry now, just to un-complicate things and make it shorter. And I guess this means that Dobby does not do anything vital in these early stages to contribe to the outcome of book 7. Ooooh I cant wait to see the movie, just to get some hints about book 7! (or maybe it will be out by then... though this is very very wishful thinking methinks :) )

I UNDERSTAND why Kreacher can NOT be in the movie.... BUT the part with KREACHER and DOBBY in Half Blood Prince I am SURE will be in it to make up for Order of the Pheniox. (After all in THAT movie it is the MOST important scene to me. EVEN more important then Dumbledors DEATH.)

I'm also glad that JK had input on what is important to include. That's one reason I enjoy the movies: you know that what is there is the essential information that we need to know.
