It has taken Robert Watt over 10 months, but a plaque has finally been installed
outside the former cafe where JK Rowling famously wrote part of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Ms. Rowling's plaque joins one for Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island and one for poet William McGonagall.
Even though Mr. Watt has never read the Harry Potter books he felt that some recognition was needed
as to where it all began and approached Ms. Rowling, the council, as well as the owners last year with the idea of trying to create a writer's corner in the city.
The plaque, with a photo of the author simple states:
JK Rowling wrote some of the early chapters of Harry Potter in the rooms on the first floor of this building.

I would be honoured if JK Rowling wrote some of her material in my cafe (Not that I have a cafe)
I'm actually writing a story at the moment and maybe I should write it in my fave cafe. I'd love a plaque.
Bet I give up writing before it's finished but I've got it all planned and It's a great storyline.

Someone needs to send some books to Mr. Watt. He should at least read them if he's going to use them to advertise.

I just hope hundereds of people don't go there in hopes of writing something as amazing and J.K's work, because it doesn't matter where you write the story. I guess I mean that people might think sitting there will give them their inspiration. I'm not so sure a "writer's corner" is such a hot idea, but then again, who am I to judge really.

I agree with what you said cmenges, the Harry Potter series had become famous a long time ago. That Watt fellow should have wanted that plaque a lot earlier, but then again, he's never read any of the books. What a bloke.
I like your avatars Harry_J Potter and beowulf.
Anyway, glad the plaque is finally up.

One thing I liked about travelling the UK and getting to know London was seeing Plaques in random places and reading them.

Why did he not put it up before this especially since the series is almost over now. Well at least she is getting recognition. And did that say he has not read the books, that is just unbelievable and somebody should send him a copy of each to read.

NOW this is too funny. IF I had the claim to fame that Harry Potter started here I would have had it reconized BEFORE the third book. MAYBE even before the SECOND book.
