Some news about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has appeared in the latest edition of Empire
magazine. In the article, director David Yates states that he has filmed "a movie that's probably over three hours, so I'll have to lose 45 minutes in the edit."
David Heyman mentions a call from JKRowling on the casting of Luna Lovegood and Imelda Stauton states that she is amazed that it took so long for her to be cast in the franchise.

Well if they have to cut scenes, then I hope everything that gets cut ends up on the deleted scenes on the DVD. I hate knowing that I'm missing out on something even if it wasn't "important" enough to be in the movies.

I would totally watch a Harry Potter movie that's over three hours! I can't believe they're basically done. So why do we have to wait all the way til July to see the movie? I can't wait!

What's wrong with having a movie that's three hours long! it's still too short to justice to Order of the Phoenix.

Wow! 3 hours? I think they should leave it that way, but that's just me. Oh well, I guess 2 hours and 15 or so minutes will do... *grins* I still say 3 hours is good!!! I can't wait for it to come out!!! SO does this mean they are finished filming, or is this just an update?

No...don't bother with the editing. 3 hours is just perfect. *laughs* I mean King Kong was like three hours long and it was brilliant. I hope all 45mins will be put on the DVD though.

I don't mind a three hour HP movie, maybe even longer with maybe an intermission. I'd rather see it all then have them cut out a lot of important scenes and have it be jumpy as well. Leave it all in I say!

I'm glad Evanna has gotten the JKR seal of approval. That's so awesome JKR knew exactly who she was! I don't think Yates should 'lose' the 45 minutes he says he has to...just leave it in, for heaven's sakes!

I really hope they don't cut it too much. I'm sure most of us won't mind a movie over three hours. I'm quite excited to see Evanna on screen, everyone seems to think of her as the perfect Luna.

Step away from the scissors please, Mr Yates
I wish they could keep the movie at least 3 hours. Why can't it be? Like he said, the book is over 700 pages, we need a long movie for it.

Oh why must they cut 45 minutes?!?!?!?!? I would LOVE it if it was over 3 hours long!!!!! I think that awould be wonderful! And I think there are enough real HP fans that wouldn't mind a movie that long. (Hint to the movie makers: the Lord of the Rings movies are all over 3 hours long and they were huge box office hits.) :) It sound like they would have to cut way too much if they cut 45 mins. Oh I hope they keep it long!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't matter that the movie is over three hours, don't ommit any part of the book, it was hard enough to admit that Dobby is not going to be in the movie, don't take out all the joy of the book. If people watch titanic for over 3 hours, why wouldn't we do the same for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!

This movie is probably going to be really messed up. First no quidditch, that's been cut, and now 45 extra minutes to be shaved off. What will be left? I hate it when the movie doesn't follow the book! People will pay to see a well made movie no matter how long it is. Or is this just a ploy so after the video is released they can go back and offer another extended version so people will spend double the money? My blessings to those who have the movies best interests in mind! Hecate3fold!

I wish they could leave OotP be three hours. 45 minutes is quite a bit to cut out, and then which scenes will be cut from it?
I guess I can just hope the deleted scenes will come on the DVD.
