'HBP' voted one of Scotland's favorite children's books Popular (2606)

Children in Scotland recently votedopens in new window on their favorite Scottish books and JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came in first in the 8-12 years category. Ms. Rowling previously won the award in 2001 for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

While Ms. Rowling was not present at the award ceremony she did write a speech that was readopens in new window by her editor:

Thank you so much for this award. I'm sure any writer will agree that it's always reassuring to receive recognition for your work, but it's particularly meaningful when the decision has been made by the readers themselves.

To them, I'm enormously grateful and delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure.

I'm sorry I am unable to receive this award in person today, but I currently have my head down writing the final book, which is coming along nicely.

Thanks to Wizard Newsopens in new window & everyone for the emails.

That's great! I'm happy that writing goes good. I must admit that I was a little bit surprised that the age was so young, especially the 8 years, 12 seems to me ok, but it's a little bit early, anyways, congratulations for the award!

"coming alone nicely" she says. How nicely is what I would like to know. The 8-12 category does not do justice, it should be the 8-18 category. Congratulations though!

Sounds nice. But I still hope that JKR will make a new book in the same universe, after HP-book 7. If we compare JKR´s fantasy-univers with Tolkiens fantasy-universe; If the Harry Potter books are more or less "the Lord of The Rings", then i hope that JKR will write her "own" books like "The Hobbit" and especially "The Silmarrilion". So i hope JKR will make books about when Snape, James, Lily, and Sirius was kids, and went to Hogwarts - But 7 books is not necesary, 2 books will do fine. The i also hope JKR will make a book like Tolkiens "Silmarillion", where she tells the backstory of the whole univers: how the magic nation was founded, how Hogwarts was founded, Who Merlin and the 4 heads of the hogwarts-houses was.
