'HBP' voted one of Scotland's favorite children's books Popular (2606)

Children in Scotland recently votedopens in new window on their favorite Scottish books and JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came in first in the 8-12 years category. Ms. Rowling previously won the award in 2001 for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

While Ms. Rowling was not present at the award ceremony she did write a speech that was readopens in new window by her editor:

Thank you so much for this award. I'm sure any writer will agree that it's always reassuring to receive recognition for your work, but it's particularly meaningful when the decision has been made by the readers themselves.

To them, I'm enormously grateful and delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure.

I'm sorry I am unable to receive this award in person today, but I currently have my head down writing the final book, which is coming along nicely.

Thanks to Wizard Newsopens in new window & everyone for the emails.

That's great!!! Although I wouldn't consider HBP a children's book, personally. I would like to see it classified under young adult, or even teen. But, congrats anyway.

That's all she can say, isn't it? That the seventh book is coming along 'nicely'? I wish she'd at least use a different adjective! I mean, come on, as soon as I hear her say the book is going 'well' I'll be convinced a release date is near!

It's nice that she won and all that, but just for how long can the process of writing the book be "coming along nicely". Surely she must be nearly finished by now? Please? Pretty please with sugar on top????

No surprise here! HBP absolutely deserves this recognition, and if the kids of Scotland had chosen any other book, it would have been a complete shock.
