Once again a Harry Potter book has topped
a poll for kids. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been chosen as the top book in Scholastic's online poll "Kids' Pick For 2007" for 4th - 6th Grade readers.
The poll helped kick-off Read For 2007: Read For Life:
... the eighth annual worldwide read-a-thon to get kids excited about reading, created by Scholastic, the global children's publishing, education and media company, together with Reading Is Fundamental, the oldest and largest children's literacy organization in the country. On Friday, December 8, 2006, millions of children will join together to read for 2,007 seconds (approximately 33-1/2 minutes) and to commit to reading throughout the new year. Governors' spouses across the country, as well as teachers and librarians around the world will hold reading events celebrating the joy of reading on this day and every day.

Yet again the people vote on how much they love Harry Potter. If it can get this many kids to read, why is everyone burning them?

HBP is my favourite HP book(maybe the Seventh book will become my new favourite, but we'll see...),so I'm glad it's been chosen for a must read.
It's really nice, because HBP has more depth than any other HP book so far and I think it should be chosen for a must read for adults, too.

Now that we are talking about Harry Potter Book 7, then I still hope that JKR will make a new book in the same universe, after HP-book 7. If we compare JKR´s fantasy-univers with Tolkiens fantasy-universe; If the Harry Potter books are more or less "the Lord of The Rings", then i hope that JKR will write her "own" books like "The Hobbit" and especially "The Silmarrilion". So i hope JKR will make books about when Snape, James, Lily, and Sirius was kids, and went to Hogwarts - But 7 books is not necesary, 2 books will do fine. The i also hope JKR will make a book like Tolkiens "Silmarillion", where she tells the backstory of the whole univers: how the magic nation was founded, how Hogwarts was founded, Who Merlin and the 4 heads of the hogwarts-houses was.

Go HBP! That is really cool that it is still getting awards. It really was just a fabulous book, but I don't see why they said for kids from fourth to sixth grade, most children in the fourth grade arent yet mature enough to take in the true essense of the Potter series. However, I started reading htem the year before i started kindergarten, so i guess htat makes me a hypocrite(?)
