We have been receiving numerous emails letting us know that Borders book stores in Indiana and New York are now accepting reservations for the last Harry Potter book, even though no information has been announced in reference to the title or a release date.
From an email:
Here in Bloomington, Indiana, at the Borders Book Store at 2634 E. 3rd St, they are accepting reservations for Book 7. I was there for other business yesterday and was surprised to see the reservations sign at the information desk. When I asked about it, the manager said they couldn't take reservations yet because they didn't have a release date. I pointed out the sign to him, which he was surprised to see out. One of the other managers had written a note on the back that they were starting to take reservations, even though the release date hadn't been made public. They had also written a number (an SKU?), which he entered, and sure enough - put my name on the list. I don't know if this is happening nationwide, but the reservation process has at least started here.
Thanks to everyone who emailed and we will update with any additional information we find out.
On another note, a very interesting read can be found here
in which predictions are made on the last book in the series.

I wanna reserve my copy as fast as possible, right now. As soon as I can from amazon or other book store sites, I am!!! It makes me sad, but happy. Its going to be the best book that has even been written in history probably and its going to be amazing, but its the LAST harry potter book...

Uhh..not fair! I want to pre-order too! But, I guess its no use preordering now, for all we know we could be preordering a book that's 3 years away! I personally dont mind. Honestly, you'd think people would be dreading the coming of the last book, I know I do, but all my friends actually want it to end!! Anyways, I'm definately preordering mine, for one of the books, I dont recall wich one, they ran out and I had to wait a week, A WEEK to buy it! That's an outrage!
Why's New York so special??......Yeeeaaah I'll shut up now.

I know I'm going to reserve my copy of the last book. I didn't reserve the 6th book and I was in line for around 3 hours just waiting and hoping to get the book. I'm going to make that mistake twice.

Wow, I wonder why stores would take reservations without a title or a release date! Why would you want to make a reservation without that information? I mean, it's going to be an awesome book, but to have to wait so long for your order to come in? I don't know, that seems strange to me. I wonder if that means the title might be released soon.

Well, I dont think I will reserve a copy, because, it really depends upon which book seller has the best release party. We went to Barnes and Noble last book release, and they had stations set up all over the store with stuff for the kids to do. We really had a great time. I am excited for the next one. We all intend to dress up, but are having trouble deciding which character to be. But it just is fun to be excited about the book, and then to be with so many other people who are also excited about the new book!

How weird....That's so early though! It must be at least another half a year...she hasn't finished the book and it has to go through the publishing process as well....strange.
It certianly hasn't started in Australia!

Wow! Maybe this means that they know something we dont... or maybe I'm just being wishful! That's so exciting! And the read about the hero's journey was also good - some interesting ideas to ponder on. Reminds me a bit of superman, actually.

Hah! I wonder if this is really true. Well, I guess it must be, although I think it's a bit early to be making reservations, especially since the release date hasn't even been released. Oh well, ya can't stop those hardcore HP fans. Maybe I'll stop by the website & reserve my own copy! -laughoutloud-
