We have been receiving numerous emails letting us know that Borders book stores in Indiana and New York are now accepting reservations for the last Harry Potter book, even though no information has been announced in reference to the title or a release date.
From an email:
Here in Bloomington, Indiana, at the Borders Book Store at 2634 E. 3rd St, they are accepting reservations for Book 7. I was there for other business yesterday and was surprised to see the reservations sign at the information desk. When I asked about it, the manager said they couldn't take reservations yet because they didn't have a release date. I pointed out the sign to him, which he was surprised to see out. One of the other managers had written a note on the back that they were starting to take reservations, even though the release date hadn't been made public. They had also written a number (an SKU?), which he entered, and sure enough - put my name on the list. I don't know if this is happening nationwide, but the reservation process has at least started here.
Thanks to everyone who emailed and we will update with any additional information we find out.
On another note, a very interesting read can be found here
in which predictions are made on the last book in the series.

Thankfully (or not, depending on how you look at it) Harry potter is not that big here in Trinidad, so we don’t have to reserve the book so early in advance. For book 6, I reserved it one week before it was released.

I am not going to pre-order the book. If someone has and had it deliveried.. what it delivered the next day?
I want my book at midnight without a crowd. Yes I have found the perfect spot. CVS!! It is open 24 hours a day and when book 6 came out they started selling them at midnight and not a minute before. I was the second person in line and the last person!

I checked online, and Borders is offering email updates regarding HP7. As of now, it is not possible to reserve a copy since there is no publication date. But Borders will email those on the list when reservdations are possible.

It seems like alot of places have been doing this even though there is no date or title out yet. There are tons of people who are just causal book readers and don't go to the websites who think that the book is comming out summer 07, whether it be from this or just from the past release dates. I am waiting to preorder until amazon starts and I get my copy in the mail, like I always have and then I will still go to the book store anyways.

hmmmm, I wonder if they might do the same for Borders her in Oz? Last time at work when book seven came out about every third person was reading HBP and it was a unspoken rule that NO-One! was allowed to talk about it out loud (just in case...)
