We have been receiving numerous emails letting us know that Borders book stores in Indiana and New York are now accepting reservations for the last Harry Potter book, even though no information has been announced in reference to the title or a release date.
From an email:
Here in Bloomington, Indiana, at the Borders Book Store at 2634 E. 3rd St, they are accepting reservations for Book 7. I was there for other business yesterday and was surprised to see the reservations sign at the information desk. When I asked about it, the manager said they couldn't take reservations yet because they didn't have a release date. I pointed out the sign to him, which he was surprised to see out. One of the other managers had written a note on the back that they were starting to take reservations, even though the release date hadn't been made public. They had also written a number (an SKU?), which he entered, and sure enough - put my name on the list. I don't know if this is happening nationwide, but the reservation process has at least started here.
Thanks to everyone who emailed and we will update with any additional information we find out.
On another note, a very interesting read can be found here
in which predictions are made on the last book in the series.

I have asked at my local Barnes and Noble book store, and they said they may begin taking orders in mid December to early January. Hopefully this is right because i want one of those final books as soon as they come out, because they will be sold out before we all know it.

Thats sooooo COOL! But when will they start taking pre-orders at Borders Australia? I hope soon!
Its interesting that they have already begun taking pre-orders considering that JK/ Bloomsbury has not even announced the title of the book, nor the release date, so, not meaning to be pesemistic, but no one cept JK and her publishers know the release date, so perhaps this is just a way of marketing during the holidays...Hmmm.
I hope that JK announces the title as a christmas present for hundreds of fans like she did two years back for Half Blood Prince!!!
To Horcrunks - How could harry possibly be a horcrux???
That would mean that he would have to kill himself so that someone else could kill voldemort, and considering the fact that not many people know about the horcruxes, that would mean that they are stealing harrys glory!!!
Besides, if your theory is on the right lines, if voldemort attempted to make harry into a horcrux on the night that he killed Lily and James, then he must have failed because he died in his attempt. So unless he has made harry into a horcrux in another instance within the series, then i dont believe that this theory is possible.
PS sorry for the long post - i had alot to say.

I just pre-ordered mine! Woo-hoo! I'm in Illinois. Tentative release date is indeed July 7th but don't hold them to it.
I reserved mine at Borders and they said the more pre-orders the better because it determines the number of books they get in the store, and they always sell out. So pre-order! Go go go! :D

Down here in Miami it worked a little different for HBP. We were allowed to reserve a book but the day before the release the local bok store stays open past midnight and you have to go there sometime before 6 pm to reserve a spot in line for the night release. If not you have to wait until the next day. I am planning on doind the same thing next year or whenever book 7 is released.

That's a bit odd, starting the reservations already... I wonder, could they get into trouble for beginning to take orders for the book before the publishing date is even out? I hope not, I love it when people begin to reserve the books... I never do though, I always just go to the local mall for a midnight party, and i get htere early to get my "Hogwarts Express" ticket, which has numbers that you get and u have to stand in that number in the longest line that you have ever seen. Very fun though, very fun indeed, for HBP I got into a conversation about crocheting with a woman six times my age, rather nice old dear though.
