Harry Potter book illustrator Mary GrandPré discusses
in an interview from December that she doesn't know anything about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and has not decided on a color for the cover. She also mentions that she would like to paint Hagrid in color and that her favorite book color is blue for Order of the Phoenix.

I loved the way she inlustated the last two books.. it looks really good.. I can't wait to see the last one.. i hope she chooses a good color... i think that black would be the best.. Well I'll just have to wait a]like everybody elese to see the last books cover...

When I think about Deathly Hallows I think of a dark grey or black cover with red typing except in Harry Potter green also symbolizes evil so... I dont know.

I thought it was really interesting that the first four book covers were completely multi-colored, and the fifth and sixth were each only one. I wonder what color she'll choose for DH...Black, maybe ; )

GrandPre is an amazing illustrator! I really never noticed basic colors for the covers except for in OotP and HBP. We wouldn't be able to see Harry as much before the movies as we could unless there was her. I just need to see the cover!!

It would be nice to have Hagrid in colour in the book, haven't seen that yet!
I would think green would be a good colour for the last book....green and black becuase of the whole death eater/voldemort/harry/final battle thing...i don't know, i'm just seeing green and black! hee hee hee!

does that mean that she wants Hagrid to be on the next cover for book 7...does that mean if hes on the cover than he is going to be one of the 2 people dying????
cause Dumbledoore was on the cover for HBP and he died...
just pointing that out.

Wow -- somehow I didn't think that she got to pick the colors. I thought JK told her what she envisioned and Grandpre just put that description into art (color and all).
Also I don't think she's that great of an artist. I can't draw at all so I probably shouldn't criticize, but her illustrations are really nothing to write home about.

This makes me wonder, why hasn't the artwork been started already? I would have thought that some of the illistrations would be made as the chapters were completed.
And it does seem a little late to first be starting a cover with the release date estimated to be this summer. Time will tell. Blessings! Hecate3fold!
