Harry Potter book illustrator Mary GrandPré discusses
in an interview from December that she doesn't know anything about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and has not decided on a color for the cover. She also mentions that she would like to paint Hagrid in color and that her favorite book color is blue for Order of the Phoenix.
Thanks to Harry Latino

OotP? Heh, I liked the green from HBP the most. Then again, I think green is an awesome colour! Heh, Deathly Hallows sounds like it should be a dark grey book. Yep, it does... Did the whole colour theme start with the fifth book?

Deathly Hallows strikes me as black, but i think black is too obvious, so i think she might go for a less convetnional colour such as silver or white.

She illustrates beautifully! I agree with *SlytherinEmpress* that Deathly Hallows sound black. It will be very interesting when the book cover is released. The blue cover for Order of the Phoenix is my favourite colour too! I also like the look of the older Harry on the cover.

I'd like to see Hagrid in color. He's probably really fun to draw. I wouldn't mind another blue cover, either, but I kind of hope she does something different. I can't wait to see the art from this book!

I have to agree that the best was OOTP. However, I have been pretty pleased by all them.
I wonder, does she get to read the book ahead so she can prepare the illustrations or if she just gets a loose sketch.

I never knew this woman chooses what it will look like. Doesn't Jo have a say in what colour she wants the last book to be? I'd though she would have had in planned.

Well I think that green would look good too...I mean with black and other really dark colours, it's would look really good with the story of the book...really dark and sort of deathly :P just like HBP almost...I mean the cover looks awsome and so is the story :)
Yet this woman choose what looks good :D

Hmm. If GrandPre hasn't heard anything about it, it may not be summer '07 that we get it. Maybe '08?

I wonder what color it will be. I sort of miss when the books didn't have a color scheme like in book 5 and 6. (Like the first book's colors, where it was vibrant but not just one scheme.) Nonetheless, I like the monochromatic ones too. My favorite covers are probably book 5, book 1, and book 4. I don't know why.

I really like her depiction of the characters. They are what I first saw the characters as and I still think her pictures dictate what the characters look like in my head. I saw that she made a calendar for 2006 and I wanted to wait and see if she will make one for 2007 but I already purchased a different calendar with the promo images from the films on it. Anyway I think that Mary GrandPré is second only to J.K. in helping me visualize Harrys world and I thank her for her beautiful artwork.

I love the covers for OOTP and HBP the best, they show that it is darker and I like the older looks of the characters. All her covers are great but i just love her monochromatic ones the best. I think purple would be a good color for the last book. Would make it dark but still give it color that would be lacking if she used black and white.

I must admit I find myself disapponinted. This means that the book is most likely far from being done or something. I like the HBP colors the best. OOTP is second though.
