According to a lawyer for JK Rowling there are currently no plans for an e-book version
of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to be published on July 21, 2007.
Ms. Rowling has previously stated
on her web site that only authorized versions of her books are available via print or audio and this helps with the "growing incidents of piracy."
You may remember that in January 2005 we mentioned
a site that was offering electronic versions of all six Harry Potter books, the sixth months before it was even published, so please be aware of sites that offer e-book versions of the series -- they don't exist.

I'm one of those people who simply cannot read an entire book on a computer screen. I don't even care so much for audiobooks. I like a good, old fashioned paper book in my hand. I am appalled that someone would take a perfectly good, brand new, paper book and saw it to pieces and basically mutilate it just to scan it into an ebook. I love books, I love the way they feel, the way they age, I collect them..I find it quite the horror. I don't even like the way people dogear their pages instead of using a bookmark, it makes my skin crawl. With this said, I am not particularly hoping for ebook versions but after the last book has been out for a while, maybe they CAN create some official ebook versions? I think the only thing I like about an official ebook is the ease of searching for something in particular. So I would surely buy an official ebook collection for no other reason than that (and travelling, you could take all 7 books with you on a laptop). But basically, I like paper books so much that I won't complain if they never do come out with ebooks. I just have to have something physical in front of me, paper to hold and a book to curl up with, or my mind wanders.

I wouldn't want to read the e book anyhow. I'd really like to enjoy the story the same time as all my friends. I couldn't imagine trying to read the book and then not talk about it with other people.

I am not surprised. I think this is very important, especially given this is the last chapter. I hope there won't be an leaks of info plus, I think JKR deserves all royalties.

Is a e-book somthing like how you read a story online? If so I dont think they should do it because I agree with Rowling theres to many people online downloading stuff thats illegal.

That makes sense to me. I was never to hot for the "print HP off your computer" craze anyway, sounds like it wasn't the best idea ever, seems like it would be easy to lose a page.
