According to a lawyer for JK Rowling there are currently no plans for an e-book version
of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to be published on July 21, 2007.
Ms. Rowling has previously stated
on her web site that only authorized versions of her books are available via print or audio and this helps with the "growing incidents of piracy."
You may remember that in January 2005 we mentioned
a site that was offering electronic versions of all six Harry Potter books, the sixth months before it was even published, so please be aware of sites that offer e-book versions of the series -- they don't exist.

I wonder if JKR has plans to release the books electronically so one with luggage constraints may still read and enjoy the books in their favorite electronic format.

What are e-books anyways? I prefer to read the books by myself. It's better that way.

I can't even imagine reading a HP book online or on a computer screen! That is way too much time staring at a monitor! People who can do that need to learn to socialize with real humans. They couldn't possibly speak to a real person daily. JK is a smart woman! Good for her deciding to not allow it.

I don't think there should be any, it's kind of like ripping off JK Rowling and she is the boss so I would not want to be rude in any knid of way to her, I really respect her and I would not do that purposely.

I for one think it is a good idea not to have her books on e-books. People should have to buy their books and support their author.

I would much rather have the book in front of me and be able to hold it and smell it and read it of course!
I wouldn't want to sit looking at the screen for that length of time.

I've read books online, but nothing can replace the good old traditional book.
Anyway,I've got the translated HP books (I'm Bulgarian) but I don't buy the original versions too. If I want to read them in English,I prefer to read an e-book because I don't want to buy two copies of each book.

Are we surprised? I mean, it's not like there're best-selling e-books for the first six - no. Why would we be expecting an e-book for DH? I think that's just crazy...

Hmm...I'm sure that they will make one for the last one eventually. I just listened to the first one and it was ok. I don't like his portrayal of Harry though-he sounds to concieded at times and that's not Harry at all. Otherwise it was very good. I really like DD and Hermione and Hagrid voices-they're very good.

I don't think it's fair for people to have their works pirated. I guess I've fallen away from my own standards in using livewire, but I think I'm going to buy the actual song or whatever for now on.

It's quite rididculous if someone belives an e-book version is the actual version of the book.

I've read the books via e-book, and it's no comparison to the real deal. As much as I'm all for saving paper and trees, I think the final Harry Potter book deserves to be bought as the real deal!
