Due to the recent press coverage of Daniel Radcliffe
's controversial play Equus, the possibility of Warner Bros. firing the actor have triggered the rumor mill. However, the company responsible for the Harry Potter movies have issued an official press release fully supporting Daniel's choice of appearing in the play.
Daniel Radcliffe is an extremely talented actor, as well as a great collaborator and friend to Warner Bros. Pictures. We've had great experiences working with him on our films and fully support him in the artistic choices he makes as an actor.

That would just be ridiculous. They couldn't fire him over something like that!!

That's good. Because Harry Potter is a stepping stone to a larger career for Dan and it would be silly to stop him from expanding his range as an actor.

To tell the truth I never thought they were going to fire Dan anyway. After all he is one of the main characters and almost every fan site is devoted to him.

I'm sure they do support him. Without Dan Radcliffe, the Potter franchise would suffer huge losses. People would still go see it, but "it wouldn't be the same", and WB would suffer heavy losses in profit.

I'm glad to hear that his choices of roles in othe rproductions aren't going to affect his acting in Harry Potter. I don't know if I could watch the films without him.
Can't these people making up rumors find something different to write about? *sigh*

Well, of course. As if they'd seriously get rid of him - they'd be cutting of their nose to spite their face.
Even if they do think some people will avoid the future movies because of their feelings about Dan in Equus, the amount of money they'd lose from those people is much less than what they'd lose if they "fired" Dan from the role of Harry.

Gee!
I cannot believe they would fire him for doing the play.
It is his choice as an actor.
I am glad it is nothing but rumors.

*exhale* I was worried. I don't think I would have gone to see it if it didn't have Dan. I have the book, and a good imagination. Why spend money on something that will just disappoint me, and fund a company that I don't agree with? Plus, maybe some people who see the play will get into the movies because they see what a great actor he is.

It would be absolutely disastrious if Daniel Radcliffe were to be removed from starring as Harry Potter, I'm glad to hear that it was just a rumor and that this won't happen.

Tammyant says:
It would be so wrong of them if they didn't support him. Any media attention he draws brings more people to the movie he appears in...they will reap the benefits of the play as well. Also, they don't make exclusively children's films. It would be shortsighted to expect him to never do adult contented material.

I don't think they would have had any right to fire him anyway! He's not filming anything for HP at the moment and is free to choose his options. He is 18 years old and is quite able of deciding what work he wants to do.

Ok first Dan is a great actor i like how he acts in the Harry Potter movies, 2nd it his choice what he does, i soppoted him on what ever he does, but also i think that he should do all that when he is done whith all the Potter movies so people that make a big deal like what he is doing would not make a big deal: like my brothes and Sisters. I know that he is acting an doing those play, but like i say he could do it after all the potter movies. My sibiling hear are saying that he past the lines and that should not do that at all that he is what kid see in him like a hero.

Yeah. Why would they fire Dan for being in a certain play? People's choices should be respected as long as it's about something that's not life-threatening like smoking. I can't believe how much people weren't repecting poor old Dan.

Haha, that's good. It would have been kinda dumb if they fired him because he took on a more mature role. I mean, he's growing as an actor and I think most of us are perfectly okay with it! Also, wouldn't they have done something about it a LONG time ago if they were going to do something about it.
