Reports are surfacing
online that the current production of Equus on London's West End featuring Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths will be Broadway (New York) bound.
According to the article, the producers of the play hope to bring the play to New York in the Fall of 2007. This may sound a bit farfetched as filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled to start later this year.

That would be wonderful for it to come to the states, but I would much rather them get the Harry Potter filming going. The kids aren't getting any younger and I would like Emma to stay until the end. Boy that is a hard choice to make.

They'd probably have to replace Dan though if it conflicted with his HBP commitments so I doubt it's true for him... probably just a rumor just now since they don't know who the play will be recieved in London yet!

It may just be a rumor, or it may not be acurate information. It has been printed that a broadway producer by the name of Roger Berlind, saw the play in London on its first preview day. After seeing Richard and Dan perform, Berlind stated that he was very interested in raising funds for a Broadway (NY) showing should the British producers wish to extend the play overseas AND that both Richard and Dan be on hand to reprise their roles. Obviously, should this event take place, it would have to be scheduled around the HP films, just as the London showing has been. It any case, I would definitely being seeing it in New York if it came to that!!! I only wish I could make it to England before the last June date! :(

If this production does come to Broadway, they may have to recast Dan... oh hang on. He'd be 18 years old in July, so by fall he's be legally allowed to "bare all" in the US. Had he been 17, they would have had to recast him. Well, this is just a rumour, so until something more definite surfaces, we should not hold our breaths.

I would leap at the first opportunity to attend this play that I could, especially if, as AncientJoy stated, the producers intend to retain the original actors from the United Kingdom edition. New York City is far closer to me than London; I can assure you I would buy tickets. :)
