Electronic Arts (EA), the makers of the Harry Potter video games, announced over the weekend that the Order of the Phoenix video game will be released a week before the movie in July.
According to Chris Roberts, senior designer of the game the game is designed to give players the freedom to do whatever they want, with no prescribed way to complete the game:
You're going to see all of Hogwarts based on the blueprints from the movie. It's all there and it streams without loading.
We're showing some places that have never been seen before like Grimmauld Place where Sirius Black lives.
We've got a school full of kids - it's a living breathing world the player can mooch around in - they're not absolutely forced to play this level, then this level, then this level.
The game is completely free-form: Harry can go to class, play gobstones or wizard chess, all of the things from the film.
Also some new
screenshots from the game are available online, whick have been captured directly from the game at a specific resolution. We will try to obtain better versions of these images shortly. Thanks Sami.

Harry looks a little squished in the screenshots, but other than that, it looks great. The characters actually look a lot like the actors, in my opinion. I'm definitely getting this when it comes out, I've got all the other ones for GameCube, and I'm really looking forward to playing a Harry Potter game on the Wii.

I have the previous games on the game cube, and I don't want to have to buy a Wii, so I might see if they release a PC version of the game...
But as already said - July will be an INSANE month! The game, movie 5 and book 7!!!! Brilliant!!!

I won't know til I see it for real, but I'm confident that it will be better than GoF based on what the desigber guy says. I really want to explore Hogwarts and all instead of being forced to do weird levels like a normal video game. HP should be different, more magical! Hehehe hope it turns out great.

These pictures are from PS3 so its ofcourse high definition. But I don know if there are the same graphics on PSP or Xbox 360. I hope they are though!!

That really sounds so amazing. I am glad that you can just wander around inside Hogwarts. That is something that you couldn't do in the fourth game, and I really missed it quite a bit. I also never liked waiting for it to load.

Great! I am glad they went back to the way they use to be. Free roam. I hated the fact the GoF was on pre made path. No exploring! That's what I love best! So I am extremely happy about this one. I think --- yep --- I think I might just have to buy it. = )
