Why is it that the UK can get such an awesome OoF trailed and we (US) get the watered down version? As a friend said, most of the readers and viewers of Harry Potter are not children any more. That trailer is not too old for the American audience.

Oh My GOD!! Now that looks like a real movie. My God, it is so exciting. I love it! The trailers for GoF were better than the film itself. So, I really hope that OotP will be quite different.

But if this new trailer really speaks for the film, OotP is going to blow over the others.

It's absolutly brilliant-and I even like the soundtrack! There was only a few things that I did not like. Voldemort at the trainstation in a suit? WHAT?!! I don't think so-sure it's a dream I'm sure-but really though in a suit? I ask you... and Umbridge at the begining is to normal not toad enough-though towards the end she seems to falling into her stride and pulls off the yelling rather well.

Good trailer. It looks like an enjoyable movie. I wonder what are all the factors that caused it to be so much better than the previous ones. Are these the same people from the other movies?

Lituus says:

Yes, the trailer was alright. Loved the GoF trailer better. Of course its true that the GoF trailer was sorta better than the film itself but, the film wasn't too bad either.

Now hundreds of us have mentioned "Voldemort in a suit". Now, I reaaaaaaaaaaaaallly hope they were trying to show that Voldy is so in-control of Harry's mind, that he sees Voldy everywhere. But a friggin' suit. That's just bad taste. And why is his face all rubbery-like? More like a bad latex-mask than make-up. Could it be that someone from the Order was basically playing a joke on Harry? Think about it...Tonks is a metamorphmagus, she can do that in the film if they want. But of course it would cause mass-hysteria too. I think this is part of the Voldemort smear campaign launched by WB. First, lowly servant Wormtail says his name in GoF movie then, in OotP, his face goes all rubbery and he goes to the train station in a suit. Can you imagine how horribly insecure he might be feeling now?

On a better note, this may be a thematic thingy. Let's see: Voldy's back after GoF, you can practically "see" him everywhere in HBP. But in OotP, no one but Harry & DD can "see" him!

The thing that struck me really hard after watching this trailer was that the dialogue is so different. Obviously this is cause of Goldenberg subbing for Kloves. So when Kloves comes back for HBP, it'll sound even more odd. It may be because I'm used to Kloves' dialogues but, I felt that the tone of voice and choice of words by Goldenberg weren't cut out for Harry Potter, nor do they fit well into the established style. Hrmmph!!

I don't know about range of the director's role in shaping this movie, but I can say in the least that the cinematography is oddly different too. They've gone with a much brighter, earthy colors in many scenes. This is a departure from the progressive darkening of the scenes in the series so far. Then again OotP has lots of side humor. Well, GoF did too, but the focus was on sinister plots and helplessness. Here it looks like Harry's a bit out-of-place in the joy-joy scheme of things. Yeah, that's probably a good thing too!!

Music is weird....If this is Hooper's work, it goes off to a much more techno/funk electronic feel and reaches for more "mirth" than movies 1 & 2. Three was Williams high-point. And Doyle bought darker deeper tones and stuff but still stuck to the "core magical feel". Hooper seems to be a cross between Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer.

Ok, umm.. Staunton is over-playing Umbridge a wee bit. Some of the lines sound manufactured for the trailer. Hopefully they won't make "odd" appearances in the film. Like "dark-and-difficult" by Gambon in GoF. But its' almost ensured that "You will lose everything" will make an awkward appearance. Yeah, and that's cheesier than "He was their friend...",and that too from Voldy's mouth... murder me Harry.

Finally, I know how they were all like "Oh this is about the internal struggle...GoF was real dragons, this is inner demons..." and some such. But it really looks like they're trying to put way too much whiz-bang to make it look like a "blockbuster"; honestly you don't have to do it. There's no need to emulate or outshine Spidey 3 in action, Shrek 3 in sarcasm & crude slapstick, or Pirates in visual cues and oddly behaving actors. Harry Potter's story is strong enough by itself. Ralph Fiennes need not do a Johnny Depp, Fred & George needn't do Spidey acrobatics etc.

And to even think of the "20 min 3D" thing makes me cringe. Is there anything stupider they could have done? Now they must have put all sorts of unnecessary and irrelevant "3D-friendly" stuff in there, like stuff flying toward the audience and such. I really repented not seeing GoF in IMAX cause the huge set-pieces were perfect for that. And I thought maybe OotP will be more somber for the most part, but no!

I've never yet criticized a HP movie so badly. Except for maybe the overlong idiotic climax scene in CoS.
