areas in Scotland for filming locations for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is set to start filming later this year. The locations featured caves and cliffs which may suit key scenes in the movie.
The main locations that were checked out were:
You may remember that in February we had a report that Warner Bros. had also scouted out areas
in Ireland for possible filming. We will all find out later this year which area won out.

Very intersting how they scout these out. I wonder if JKR had ever visited any of these sites for her own research - either in person or by book. Fun to see the process unfold. Hard to believe that they start filming so soon.

Brilliant...they could also make it easier by filming the Half Blood prince at the Wookey Caves in the UK.

It's barely been two years since Half-Blood Prince was
released. It seems as if everything's happening so fast!
The movie in 2008. Wow. I'm not sure if it's a good thing
or not. But I'll still be there to catch it on opening
day/nigth!

Ooh, Scotland's so beautiful!!! Cinematography is always crucial to filmmaking. Although Ireland has incredible scenery too. So personally, either location would work for me.

That would be beautiful if they actually filmed it there. Its cool how they are planning on using an actuall cave in the movie, but probably only for an outdoor scene, the rest will be in a studio i think.

The caves and cliffs are going to be excellent for when
Dumbledore and Harry find the "fake" locket horcrux.
Wow, Half-Blood 6 movie news already!
OotP hasn't even come out yet.. I'm very excited.
And I hope it's Scotland. It worked very well for PoA.

King's Cross Station. says:
I'm guessing for exterior shots right? They would not be able to have the cave inside a real one, the description is too large... And it would be horrible for the actors involved.
Scotland is the best place to film, I'm not biased at all <.<

If it were up to me i would go with
Clo Mor, near Cape Wrath, which at 921ft, are the highest cliffs on the UK mainland
just because in the book it says that it looked impossible to climb unless you were an extremely talented mountaineer or with the help of magic and this to me sounds like the place.
