Confirmed: New release date for 'Order of the Phoenix'

We have just received news that there is a new release date for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. According to all who emailed us, the movie has a new release date in the U.S. and Canada of Wednesday, July 11th - two days earlier than previously reported. The original release date was Friday, July 13th.
Coming Soon
and Rope of Silicon are both now reporting the new release date. We are trying to confirm this information and will update as soon as we know more. Thanks to Eve, Paul and Marcus for emailing.
UPDATE: Warner Bros. has now confirmed for HPANA that the release date for the movie has been changed to Wednesday, July 11th. Thanks Jeremy for the update on the Canadian release date.

No way. Thats economically insane to attempt to open what will end up being the biggest film of the summer on a Wednesday over a Friday. Thats loosing basically tens of millions of dollars just to push back the date.

I think I liked it better when it was coming out of Friday the 13. More "witch/wizard-ish world" date.
Now I am going to be majorly tired at work on Thurs. but you best believe I am going to the midnight show.
Maybe this is good for us older fans..less teenie boppers able to go since mommy and daddy have to be at work and can't drive.
No matter what the date I am so excited to see it.

I'm not surprised they did this-in the past big movies have opened for a "five day weekend". They're trying to capitalize on the increase in moviegoers, and they probably want to give the movie as much time as possible before DH comes out. In the long run, I think DH will boost movie sales, but probably it will hurt movie ticket sales when it first comes out.

I don't see why everybody is so surprised. I mean it's July in the middle of summer vacation were all of the kids are in their summer vacation and HP is supposed to be for kids. Anywhay it doesn't matter when it is released in the US cause I have to wait a month before it comes to my country.
