We have just received news that there is a new release date for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. According to all who emailed us, the movie has a new release date in the U.S. and Canada of Wednesday, July 11th - two days earlier than previously reported. The original release date was Friday, July 13th.
Coming Soon
and Rope of Silicon are both now reporting the new release date. We are trying to confirm this information and will update as soon as we know more. Thanks to Eve, Paul and Marcus for emailing.
UPDATE: Warner Bros. has now confirmed for HPANA that the release date for the movie has been changed to Wednesday, July 11th. Thanks Jeremy for the update on the Canadian release date.

Well, you know that means that they'll have a midnight showing on Tuesday night, which date wise is Wednesday. Who cares? Most everyone is out of school in July, and adults can stay up late. What's the big deal? People will show up no matter when it opens.

Is this date truly confirmed for Canada? WB made a very big deal last month that they were not going to do early showings in Canada in protest of the significant amount of movie pirating that happens here.

Well, that's odd. I wonder why they've decided to change the dates all of a sudden! Luckily it'll be summer, so I won't have to worry about it being a school night, but that could be a problem for people who have to work. Seems a bit stupid to open one of the year's biggest movies on a Wednesday, too.

Here is what I don't understand, why are there so many people upset that it is now coming out on a Wed intstead of a Friday. Seriously, I'm not sure what the big deal is. If you ask me, it doesn't matter the day of week, because thats not what I'm thinking about, HP day is HP day and I will enjoy no matter. Hmmmmmm, maybe some people can't go throught the week, that would be terrrible to be them.

That's really strange isn't it? Well Pirates was released on a Thursday. At least it's during the summer though and there will be less of a crowd on a Wednesday and it will be easier for me to get off of work.

Well, I probably won't get to see it on the 11th, and many things about my summer now seem unappealing. I'll be at this camp thing, so will I really get to go to the movies on one of those nights? I hope so - this has been on my must-do list since I read the Sorcerer's Stone.

Dont know why they changed the date.It would have made much sense to release it on a Friday rather than a Wednesday.Maybe thats why OOTP didnt break into the top 5 in the box office charts.
