In a new interview with Harry Potter actor Gary Oldman, (Sirius Black), he discusses
his career and working on franchise movies and says that working on Order of the Phoenix "... I got to play the character rather than the situation."
Producer David Heyman talks about Gary and says:
Gary's an actor's actor, but also a producer's and a director's actor. He comes prepared, he's collaborative, he's passionate. I've heard the stories - "Oh Gary..." - but nothing could be further from the truth. Gary is a hero. You just want to see him do it more. To have him flexing those not-inconsiderable acting muscles in Harry Potter is a treat.

I wouldn't have recognised him from that photograph. Then again, I don't think I've ever seen him (not that I've known of, anyway) in anything else, so I guess I've never seen him not looking like Sirius!

I think that is great. Gary really is a great actor and he really is a hero. I love his acting and i am really upset because after this film in Harry Poter, this might be the last time he is in the films unless he is alive in the last book. Gary is really cool though and I am glad that he had also got to play the character rather then the situation too because if it was the other way around I would be really sad.

I really didn't know that much about Gary Oldman other than he plays Sirius Black! I had no idea that he was famous for playing such dark characters! He's definitely brilliant in the Potter films and Dan just loves him and that will make the scenes between Harry and Sirius in the new film that much more memorable!

I think I would have had a hard time interviewing him because his personality is so dry and quiet, yet it's like there is this huge person inside him screaming to come out. I just love him - I don't think I would have ever thought of him as arrogant. Excellent interview.

I think Gary Oldman is a brilliant actor and it was sad to see his considerable talent wasted in POA (terribly written Shrieking Shack scene) and then his non-appearance in GOF. I'm happy he has a lot to work with in OOTP.

Well, Gary Oldman has had a very colorful past. I'm sure that he's made a lot of mistakes, but that he has used his experiences to help shape the work he does. He's also great in the HP movies.
