At the Harry Potter press conference on Saturday, producer David Heyman was tightlipped when responding to a question about whether a certain character was cut from Order of the Phoenix:
"Jo reads each draft," David Heyman had said. "She reads each screenplay, and she said, 'You know, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Or you can, but if you get to make a seventh film, you'll be tied in knots.'" "Which character was it?" the Boston Herald asked. "I thought you might ask that," Heyman teased. "I'm not going to say."
Well, director David Yates has now let slip to MTV"It was Kreacher, actually," director David Yates confirmed to MTV News on Sunday. "We took Kreacher out, and Jo said, 'Listen guys, you don't have to put Kreacher back, but I'm just telling you, if you want to kind of keep a thread going for six and seven, you might want Kreacher to come back.' She basically told us Kreacher plays a role in Seven, in a sense. She hinted. We thought about it for five seconds, and he came back."
What you won't see in the Kreacher scenes, however, is him squirreling away any artifacts such as, say, a mysterious locket no one can open. "Bad David!" Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, teased his director about the locket's absence. "It was kind of tricky to raise that in our story, because it's for so much later," Yates said. “We figured we can probably introduce it later, and that’s the approach we took."

That is really cool that JK Rowling told Warner Brothers too keep him in the movie but if he has a huge part in the book and is very importaint then I am going to be really upset that I had opened and read this. I just hope he is not very importaint, but apparenty he is. I am really glad that he will be in the last boom though beause he does seem kind of cool and I would like to learn a little bit more about him. I hope he is not big though.

That tend to confirm two things to me;
1.) RAB had to be Sirius' brother, Regulas. And it also tells me that the two people who entered the cave and stole the locket Horcrux to begin with were Sirius and Regulas Black. ( Remember Dumbledore telling Harry that one person could not have done it alone.)
To my mind, Sirius was trying to help his brother leave the deatheaters at his brothers bequest and they were trying to use the Horcrux as a bit of leverage to keep Regulas alive.
It didn't work.

Very interesting. Now we all know Kreacher plays an important part in the last book. I kind of figured that though.I think it has something to do with the locket. I mean really if you think about it Kreacher was stuck in that house for so long, how could he not be important? He's bound to have aquired some useful information.

I wonder now what role he plays in book 7? I've always wondered if him and dobey were gonna battle it out since we know kreacher hates harry and dobey loves him. I think that would be awesome if they did. Evenly matched and both powerful enough to take out the other.

I am still hacked that they cut Dobby from GOF, major part of the storyline.
But at least Jo let them know that they had to keep something from OoTP. Since they have somehow managed to make the longest book the shortest freakin' movie.

Wow. Kreacher? That's quite an interesting one. I suppose he can't go anywhere because he's attached to the house... his attachment to the locket is the most obvious thing about him, especially as it is suspected to be a *cough*...

I thought we already knew it was Kreacher. I swear I remember reading or hearing it was Kreacher. Although him squirreling away any artifacts such as, say, a mysterious locket no one can open could mean Mundugaus(sp?). I syppose it could also be Dobby but the bot about the locket make me think Kreacher.
red&gold says It has to be Lockhart... That is the only character I can think of that would be worth cutting in OotP. A very good guess in my humble opinion.

I do not know how they could cut Kreacher in the first place. Then the would have had to cut out Harry trying to check if Sirius was in the house.
I was not aware you could reveal the name someone mention it and I had to look but I sort of wished I hadn’t because I would have liked to have been surprised.
MWbashfulAR has a good idea but it is long so I do not want to quote it all but I agree with her idea.

So Kreacher is important to book 7. I think it was him who took the locket. I am glad that Jo hinted to leave him in the movie.

Well, we all pretty well had figured out that Kreacher's habit of tucking stuff away would become important in book 7, didn't we? And while Jo hasn't actually said that's why he'll be important in book 7, I reckon it's a pretty good guess!

It was a shame when Winky was cut, I think cutting Kreacher, however loathsome, would have been a mistake. I don't mean just for 7 but for 6 also, he's crucial to Grimmauld Place & Harry's inheritence as well as tracking Malfoy.

Strangely enough, when I saw the headline I thought of him. :D
It could have been someone else though, like Dumbledore's brother or Kingsley Shaklebolt (don't know if I spelled his name right).
Anyway, this spoiler leads to some interesting conclusions...
