Last week we let you know that Warner Bros. will be doing a casting call
soon for characters for the next movie. While doing publicity this weekend for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix director David Yates let slip as to how he is going to have Rupert Grint help out in casting Lavender Brown, who Ron has a 'relationship' with in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Yates on letting Rupert help with casting of Lavender Brown:
You know what I'm going to do? I never did this before, but I'm going to get Rupert together with the top five Lavenders, get him to come and read with them and snog with them. It's a chemical thing, and you want to feel that chemistry between them. That will help me decide.
Rupert's reply when told:
Really? Oh, wow, I didn't realize that. That's going to be interesting. It's going to be embarrassing.
Filming is scheduled to start for Half-Blood Prince in September.

Ahhhh that is such a good idea to have Rupert involved. I think chemistry is very imporatant and this way they can see who fits best with him. Poor Rupert, he'll have fun though I'm sure.

Aw, Rupert. I can certainly understand why he's embarrassed, but for the film it will really help if he has a bit of chemistry with the actress. The open calls seem to be a great source for finding the right person for the part. I'm sure this will be no exception!

I think that it is a good idea, but not in this circumstance, the entire point is that they have bad chemistry, because his real chemistry is with hermione. He just uses Lavendar to get some experience. I think they should chose a pretty girl but one that doesn't really fit with Rupert, it would be more fitting with the book!!!

I still think it's somewhat of a good idea, but if they go with the prittiest girl in line, then they've chosen wrong. It's the same way that I thought about Romilda, niether can be supper supper pretty, how would Ron get her then? (no offence to Ron, but it's his charter to be that way) It's a good thing that they'll have Rupert there, because he'll be more comfortable with the choice.
