Dr. Rudski has a strong interest in addiction, and the level of involvement people have with the Harry Potter series is the perfect opportunity to examine the addictive nature of non-drug related phenomena, he told HPANA. Two students, Carli Segal and Eli Kallen are helping him and giving him guidance with this project, as they are devout fans.
The study, Harry Potter and the Impact on Muggles, consists of four parts. The first part, to be completed between now and 2 weeks before the release of Deathly Hallows can be accessed at the link below. Subsequent parts will be posted 10 days before the release, a few hours after the release, and at least a week after.

(Part 1 = NOW; 2-4 weeks before release, Part 2 = 1-2 weeks before release, Part 3 = after book completion, Part 4 = at least a week after completion)
Feel free to e-mail Dr. Rudski to receive updates and reminders for when each new link is posted, as well as to receive a summary of the results. Also, Rudski would love for fans to forward this survey to friends. (HPANA will also post the followup surveys and results.)

well.. I did the survey.. And I totally accepted my addiction to HP... But Iam a little worried about how people are going to react when the results come out... I understand that some of us fans are a little bit to addicted.. I hope they don't think Harry Potter has affected negatively our lives...

That many 18 year olds are dying to get their hands on DH? At one section of the survey they asked the same thing like 20 times.

it problably has something to do with the fact that if you are over 18 you are an adult. Problably some legal requirement. However, the fact that this survey is being taken online and it is completely possible to falsify your age, there is serious question about the reliablility of this data, and the results will have to be interpreted with this in mind. That and some of the questions were a bit biased. Im sorry to say it, but if this is is sole method of data collection then im not sure how reliable his results will be

Some people have expressed how they think some of the questions are ridiculous and that we are all excited but not drifting off into other worlds unable to function...ok, well I agree...I think we can all function well, but I think we would all be very, very excited, almost like little kids. I know I am :p I was in bed the other night grinning so hard while I thought about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix coming out next month, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, also coming out next month. :D When I first saw the Order of the Phoenix preview on TV the other day I couldn't contain myself, it just looks so cool!!! The part where they are flying to Grimauld Place I presume, looks amazing! In my opinion, Order of the Phoenix is the best book so far of the series, and this movie is going to be so radicle!
Hehe, even a few of my friends who are non Potter readers, saw the preview and texted me saying how amazing it looked. [It highly annoys me that some of my friends, and the general teenage population in my area, do not read Harry Potter]
