With just about three weeks to go till the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows we have a new article
from a reporter who was one of the first to interview the author, JK Rowling, on what has now become a worldwide phenomenon.
The reporter reminisces on meeting JK before the publication of the books, mentions the good and bad publicity and how JK turned the tables on the press. There are also a few lines from three fans that met JK over 10 years ago when she visited their school as a completely unknown author.
Will the Potter books be just as popular in the years to come, according to this reporter, yes:
I'm sure they will. Why? Like the best fantasies, she creates an extraordinary and intriguing world that draws in young readers and holds them there. Children often say they feel as if they are "inside" the story. Some of the later books are, frankly, a bit flabby, but open any of the first three at any page and what strikes you is their colourful inventiveness: portraits that speak, a flying Ford Anglia, Quidditch, the Sorting Hat, baby dragons fed on brandy and chicken blood aged 12, Jill Allardice described Philosopher's Stone as "an imagination in overdrive".
The writer asks: 'Will Harry survive?
Your guess is as good as mine, but it's worth remembering something Joanne said in 2000 when we were discussing the importance for the dramatic tension in her books of there being limits to what is susceptible to magic. One fundamental is that you can't reverse death. "That's a given," she said, "though in book seven you'll see just how close you can get."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published on July 21st, 2007.

Does anyone else hear ominous music? Ah well, she says close, so perhaps that's an indication that Harry won't die in the end...

I couldn't get the article to come up. Probably everyone trying at once. I'll try again later. But every new article makes me more and more excited to read the book. I walked into a grocery store and it even had a huge stand up saying 20 more days. My husband teased me about getting excited to see it.

Even before it was published Harry Potter had die hard fans. Which is very understandable. Here we are ten years later waiting for more. Are great-great-great-grandchildren will read SS/PS hurry back to the library (or whoever we get books then excited to read more.

It's interesting the comment JK made about us finding out in book seven just how close you can get to death but not really die. It intrigues me!

Hmm we will see how close you can come to bringing back the dead.
Interesting.
Could it be Dumbledore.
Oh I was going to ask, does anyone see the significance of the Barman at the Hog's Head.
Harry said he looked vaguely familiar and he is mentioned several times.
Does that mean he will be used in the final book?
Oh and I found a book mistake.
In Book 5 Mundungus is dressed as a witch to folow Harry at the Hog's Head. Sirius says that Dung has a lifelong ban from the bar and that the barman has a long memory.
However in book six when harry sees Dung in Hogsmeade with stuff he nicked from Harry he is with the Barman. That doesnt add up.
I think the bar man has an important role. tall with a long grey beard and oddly familiar to Harry. What can that mean?

I can't see the HP books not being popular in the future. They're great books to read and can be enjoyed by anyone.
And I hope Harry will survive.

I get to watch down a lane? Heh, sounds cool! Hmm, I do think that Harry Potter will always be big. I mean, people of all ages read them, and all the time, there are new kids ready to read it - and they will definitely want to! It's one of those classics (probably the biggest) that everyone wants to read at some point in their life, and it's good that it's the kids who want to read it!

Ha, I was trolling around the website and found this. Funny how she sort of gave away the ending for book seven right here! I guess nobody could ever dream that the story would end as it did- it was a very unique ending.
