At the U.S. premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Sunday, producer David Heyman confirmed to HPANA the casting of two 11-year-old red-haired children for the next film, Half-Blood Prince, which is set to begin filming in September.
The actors -- Taylor Triphook (a boy) and Katie Head -- will play minor twin characters who are not culled from JK Rowling's sixth novel. Heyman did not elaborate further. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is expected in theatres November 2008.
HPANA's complete coverage from the red carpet of the Order of the Phoenix premiere will be posted soon.

Very weird indeed. I wonder who they will be playing. Just hope it doesn't ruin the storyline and the film. Oh well, we will just wait and see how this turns out.

So I was thinking David Yates seems like a good director and Steve Kloves did well with PoA and GoF, but STOP ADDING FREAKIN' EXTRA PEOPLE NOT FROM THE BOOK AND STEALING SCREEN TIME FROM THE ACTORS WHO ARE FROM THE BOOKS. DON'T THEY READ OUR COMPLAINTS AND EVEN THE REVIEWS WHICH SAY TO GIVE THE DUE SCREEN TIME TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE IT?!!!!!!!!!!!! I will freaking firebomb David Heyman's house if HBP does not have Alan Rickman in every single scene in which he appears in HBP! Snape is the big surprise of HBP and he BETTER have every moment the character deserves, and not a single moment should be spent on some random kids who as Heyman says, "are not [from] JK Rowling's sixth novel." If they are not from the book then they do not deserve some sort of screen time! It's pretty dang simple if you ask me!
Furthermore, if these two kids are not actual characters from the books but are just going to be seen as kids in the orphanage, then that's fine, as long as it's in passing. But if they start sticking in new characters who do not have any purpose to the story, I'm going to be peeved! GoF wasted time on extra people and extra scenes, which were funny, but lacked the appropriate ending.
And David Yates better make HBP at least 2.5 hours long or longer to get in the appropriate story that we need. I don't want to see Snape cut down to just the ending. I don't want to see the travels in the Pensieve cut down. I don't want the Gaunts cut. I don't want Spinner's End cut. I don't want the attacks on the students cut out. I don't want the Christmas party cut out. And I don't want the potions book stuff cut. I want HBP in the film and I don't want things which are NOT from HBP in the film where they don't belong!!!

Their probably a big part of the seventh movie, but we don't know about the characters yet because the seventh book hasn't come out, however that is really weird!

Hey guys i don't think we need to worry that its gonna ruin the story or anything seeing as they're just minor characters. J K has to agree on this stuff i think, so seeing as she did, all's fine. They know what they're doing, if anything it'll hoefully make the story even more interesting

I'm not all that convinced, but they just might be kids from the Orphanage. They would be around Tom's age when he learns that he's a wizard. But I thought that those kids would be-- you know-- extras. They are important, but I don't remember them having speaking roles. Since they are specifically red-heads, I think they are from Weasley or Prewett parentage or they are there to mirror the Weasleys (you know, new Hogwarts trouble-makers, seeing as how Gred and Forge made their exit)

Who are these two children supposed to be? They're red heads....Wow, who are they?...SERIOUSLY! This is frustrating!
Still, I can't be too frustrated because I'm too busy being excited about 1) Order of the Phoenix coming out tomorrow!! and 2) In HBP Dan and Bonnie will be thoroughly inspecting each others tonsils!!!! :D Man, is she LUCKY! Way to go, Bonnie!
Hey, did anyone see those pictures from one of the premieres? She has BANGS now!!! I was very shocked. I loved her hair before.

OK, who could they be...? Maybe they have something to do with the many Pensieve scenes... the fact that they have red hair must mean something... Mr. and Mrs. Weasley as children??? No, that wasn't in there.... Hm. A mystery. Hopefully we'll find out soon. I can't wait til tomorrow, OotP at midnight!!!!

I wonder if they are going to play polyjuiced Crab and Goyle. Finally cute. That could be pretty funny. They don't both have to be girls do they?

Thats very interesting. Now I really want to find out what the two character's role in HBP will be. Red hair? Maybe some family og the Weasleys?? This can sureley generate a lot of theories in the HP world.

Erm, I did not know that characters were being added. I had the same thought as someone else, that they were kids in the orphanage or something like that, but I'm not sure about this. Seems that there's enough going on in the movie without adding characters.

What?! Hmm I don't like when the plot is changed for the movies. I don't think I will like this at all. Somebody not from the books? Can't they just stick to the script!?

No no no... they just cant add random red heads to the cast. it should remain just the caracthers from the books.
Nigel... didnt like the adding , now this... JK do something to stop runing the story by adding more characters beside the ones included in the books.

To me, this is emphatically not good news. It's bad enough that such a miserable decision was made in casting by having Michael Gambon play Dumbledore, and that no one directed him to play the role like Dumbledore is in canon. Now they want to add characters who aren't even in the books.
On the other hand, Taylor Triphook sounds like a wizard name to me, so maybe this film will have some magic after all!

With so much stuff that needs to be cut out from the books to make the movies, why bother adding characters at this point? Hopefully they are only extras and not speaking parts or new characters.

Theo Murpse says:
I bet that the two characters are important, or at least appear, in book 7. Thus, it was announced that these characters were announced, and "no, they aren't in book 6."
It seems like it's a way of evading, on the eve of book 7's release, that there are two more red-headed characters in 7 making an appearance.
Is it possible that Rowling let the scriptwriter for 6 know that there are two characters in 7 who could not be introduced effectively in movie 7 but who could be easily introduced in the book version of 7?

WHAT?? Characters who are not in the book? Its one thing to transfer lines one person to another. Such as McGonagall telling the student about the COS. Or actions. It appears Cho will rat out the DA. But adding characters? I hope they do not ruin the movie.
