At the U.S. premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Sunday, producer David Heyman confirmed to HPANA the casting of two 11-year-old red-haired children for the next film, Half-Blood Prince, which is set to begin filming in September.
The actors -- Taylor Triphook (a boy) and Katie Head -- will play minor twin characters who are not culled from JK Rowling's sixth novel. Heyman did not elaborate further. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is expected in theatres November 2008.

WHAT?? Characters who are not in the book? Its one thing to transfer lines one person to another. Such as McGonagall telling the student about the COS. Or actions. It appears Cho will rat out the DA. But adding characters? I hope they do not ruin the movie.

Well, thats kinda interesting. I'm a little unsure about that. At least they will have minor roles and not major ones. But come on, there has to be a limit to what they can do, so I'm sure it will be fine, even though we don't know these characters. Or at least I certainly hope so.

From book seven and Jo said to put them in HBP. (can’t see why?). Or the children from the cave or from the orphanage. We do not see what Tom does to them. We only hear second hand what happened.

Now what in the world is the oint of adding two characters to the movies that aren't in the books? I wish they wouldn't change stuff like that! We see enough changes in the movies to distract us loyal readers as it is. I don't know how many time I have sat through the mives and said to myself, "Now that wasn't in the book that way, why did they have to do it that way?" Now they want to add characters? What's the point? HBP was fine just as it was!

I think their most likely related to the Weasley family if not there wont be emphasis on "red haired"

At first I thought about the kids from the orphanage that Riddle tortured,but it wasn't mentioned in the book (I think) that those kids are twins or redheads.
I can't see why they cut interesting things from the books but instead add characters that aren't in the books.

very interesting to note that they are not taken from the books... so it doesn't appear they would play the boys and girls terrorized by young voldy. With the red hair it would seem fitting to play Weasleys but why would we suddenly meet new Weasleys? My best guess is that at the end they may show Bill & Fleurs wedding- not a part of book 6 but suggested it would happen shortly after-- or the move the wedding up in the movie world to perhaps hte summer before.
I otherwise cant think why they would need to note they are both "red-haired" and around 11 yrs old.

That's so dumb! as if they needed to make any more characters up! sheesh! theres already about 1000 characters in the story and the story flows smoothly so the addition of characters is unnecessary. if anything they should be removing things to make it work better in a normal length potter film, which they will struggle to do. adding characters... geeze. im hopeful when they say minor, they mean REALLY minor, like people walking in the street or something. PLUS nigel was just dumb. he did nothing in the forth movie cept deliver a parcel. sticking to colin creevey would have been much more appropriate...

I'm agreeing with them probably just being non-canon characters like Nigel.
But if they have the time to do stuff like that, why couldn't they at least put a minute of Quidditch in OoTP? And if there's no Quidditch in HBP because of extra characters.. then there's no more for the entire series!
It's also abit shocking that we've got information like this before they've even started filming! Talk about spoilers! :]
Just one thing I don't understand.. if they're twins, how can they have different surnames..? :]
Hopefully Taylor and Katie will be worth it! :]

Interresting that the parts are already cast. That must mean that they are further along on the film. They need to finish that and start to work on Book 7. It will help for them to know the attend as that may effect the tone of the 6th film.
