Thanks to "the worst kind of Muggles" -- those who ruthlessly attempted to spoil the enjoyment of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on HPANA in 2005 -- we've implemented a comprehensive set of protection policies for Deathly Hallows, which are now live.
Unfortunately they are rather strict and cripple much of the site's functionality, but we would like to err on the side of caution rather than convenience. As such, members who joined after July 1st, 2007 or who have less than 100 points will not be able to post in HPANA's forums at all, effective immediately. External images and links have been disabled until after the book release, and the Wizard Wire Service on HPANA's home page has been temporarily removed.
We hope these and other minor changes will help ensure a spoiler-free experience on the site. Please don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators if you find something spoilery anywhere on the site.
Also note that any spoilers (scans of the book, chapter or plot summaries or elements) prior to its official release at 12:01 a.m. on July 21 will be removed and the poster's details, including IP address, will be forwarded to the Harry Potter publishers and JK Rowling's office. (Not to mention, banned from HPANA.)

Wow, thats heavy stuff.
I am glad that you guys are working to avoid spoilers, though. It would be terrible to get the reading-experience ruined by stupid spoilers. I want to read the book in peace, and be surpriced!

Thank you so much HPANA for doing this. I've been avoiding watching any channel that could possibly have a news report on spoilers. And this weekend I almost found out anyway from a fellow HP fan and bestfriend who had seen it. In their defense, I told them to tell me what it said because I didn't believe it was true that there had been a leak.
It makes me so mad that people would want to ruin someone's enjoyment like that. I won't say what I think of them because this is a family site.
Happy reading and see you all on the otherside of the series.

Thanks for doing this! I pre-ordered my book so I know I will be getting it later than most people, and I'm glad that I will be able to go on the internet to a 'certain extent' without seeing spoilers!!

It is good to know that spoilers will be prevented and such. And I see how it is necessary to take these steps. Only a couple of days are left until Deathly Hallows! =)

Its the last bit of Harry Potter I dont understand the spoilage- its so stupid. If people dont enjoy the books than why ruin it for others? And have Jo frowning down upon you.
Im nervous about the midnight releases in the bookstore all it takes is one jerk to ruin it for the fans in line ahhh!!

this is TERRIBLE! I signed up and because I don't have 100 points, I can't post in my fan fic. Therefore my readers will think I abandonned it. I worked SOO HARD on my story! THIS IS NOT FAIR! ESPESCIALLY if we can't ever post AGAIN!

Wow, that's super intense. Really makes me worry about the spoilers out there. I guess there really is a good chance of us all getting spoiled before we read it. I'll have to be extra careful at my release party. Maybe I'll buy earplugs or something, just in case.

The things Muggles do to ruin the enjoyment of reading the book the day it comes out......How inconsiderate! I'm very glad these precautions are being taken to prevent early postings of the DH book. Thank you very much, HPANA!!!! ;]

I am so glad to see all of this put into place! Congrats to Cheeser and the rest of the Mods for all their hard work. I jsut hope the book isn't spoiled for them, by protecting all of us from the spoilers that might somehow slip through!
I am also glad to see that HPANA willo be helping to prosecute anyone trying to spoil the book for the rest of us by sending the information on to Scholastic and Bloomsbury! Hats off to all of you!!!

I think this is a great idea and I appreciate the moderators who've made the efforts to protect us from these kind of people. I am just quite sad that I won't be able to post or contribute something in the forum since I have less than 100 points. But, I guess, everybody has to sacrifice something. God bless us all! Only 48 hrs to go!! See you all in a while!! =)

Don't worry, it'll only be temporary. Just use this time to write more of your story, that way you can give your readers even more when you can come back online! - They'll probably be busy reading HPDH over the next few days anyway hehe. If you're really worried you could post it on a site like fanfiction.net or harrypotterfanfiction.com (I'M NOT PLUGGING!). Hope that helps.
