Thanks to "the worst kind of Muggles" -- those who ruthlessly attempted to spoil the enjoyment of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on HPANA in 2005 -- we've implemented a comprehensive set of protection policies for Deathly Hallows, which are now live.
Unfortunately they are rather strict and cripple much of the site's functionality, but we would like to err on the side of caution rather than convenience. As such, members who joined after July 1st, 2007 or who have less than 100 points will not be able to post in HPANA's forums at all, effective immediately. External images and links have been disabled until after the book release, and the Wizard Wire Service on HPANA's home page has been temporarily removed.
We hope these and other minor changes will help ensure a spoiler-free experience on the site. Please don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators if you find something spoilery anywhere on the site.
Also note that any spoilers (scans of the book, chapter or plot summaries or elements) prior to its official release at 12:01 a.m. on July 21 will be removed and the poster's details, including IP address, will be forwarded to the Harry Potter publishers and JK Rowling's office. (Not to mention, banned from HPANA.)

I swear I wont say anything.
I hope it doesnt take longer than a week for things to be back to normal. most people will prob be done with the book within a day or two.
I still think this is good though.

Yeah!!! I'm glad Hpana is making strict regulations. A week before HBP was released, I had seen someone use RAB as a user name (on a different site).
I was wondering when Wizarding Wire Service would be shut down. It's going to be a looonnnggg four days.

I think this is quite fair. Although newer members may protest, this should keep the trolls out, as the vast majority of the older members are the devoted fans who want to find out on their own terms. Thank you for trying to keep DH unspoiled for us all!

I think it is wonderful that this site is taking so many precautions. I thank you very much for that, but I'm not going to go to any websites until I finish reading Deathly Hallows.

That is a relief to hear. I remember two years ago, when we had all those hoaxes going on, and I'm really relieved that hpana is taking strident measures now to ensure that the final book will not be ruined for anyone.
And if somehow it is: THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES!! :P

All of these rules seems really awesome and I can not wait until the seventh book and I also am glad that you guys are all taking action so that the book will not spoiled or any other things. I really wish that the site would not close but I guess it is good because there are all different time zones all around the world. Anyways, All of these rules seem really great so I am happy that you guys care enough about us to make sure that nothing will be spoiled.

This is good. I'm glad you're doing this. I don't even plan to come on the computer till I'm done with the book though. No media of any kind for me. I plan to stay in my room until it's done.

Thank you so much for implementing such good restrictions. I feel somewhat badly for the newest members, but it makes sense that we who have more points have much more to lose. I would freak out if I were banned--lucky I don't know a darned thing about the 7th book.

Ah, I was wondering when these precautions were going to go into effect. I completely agree with them. Although, when I saw that one of my siggies had been removed and the message that was left behind in it's place I thought a Mod was saying I was trying to spoil something! I was like "Noooooooo! I'm not spoiling anything, honest!" :P
I'm glad that HPANA is taking these steps to try to reduce the chances that something will be spoiled for us. I myself and starting to get a little jumpy. I really don't what the end to be spoiled for me. There's no way I'm going to any midnight release of Deathly Hallows, that's for sure. Seems way too risky, in my opinion, all those people there and all; it's a spoil fest waiting to happen! Come Saturday I'm running into town, picking up my copy of the book, and getting the hell home as fast as I possibly can! And once I get home I'll lock myself into my room away from the world until I'm done reading the book!

I was wondering what was going on! All the urls for my url shop completely disappeared and it said:
link removed during HPANA's spoiler policy enforcement period
Now it makes complete sense! I'm glad HPANA's doing this...unfortunately I won't be able to get on HPANA the following week that the books released. BUT I LOVE HPANA FOR THINKING ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE :D

Thank you very much-this was an excellent idea. Yes, it may seem strict to some, but I for one would be horribly disappointed if I came across spoilers on HPANA or anywhere else on the web. Now I can feel a little safer on this website!
