Jim Dale, the U.S. narrator of the Harry Potter series, is one of the few people in the world who knows how
the Harry Potter series ends.
Dale finished recording for the audio for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book over two months ago, a process that took two-and-a-half weeks and is sworn to secrecy as to how it ends.
He has recorded every single word of the series, amounting to 117 hours and 4 minutes, won a Grammy and holds the record for creating the most voices in an audiobook in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Mr. Dale will be at the Union Square Barnes & Noble in New York this Friday, July 21 where he will discuss
how he got the role of narrator, how he creates his characters’ voices and read excerpts from the previous books. After the release of the last book in the series he will do a tour of Houston, Washington, Charlotte, N.C. and Philadelphia.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released in hardback, braille, deluxe version and audio Cassette/CD on Friday, July 21st.

Wow, Jim Dale knows. How difficult it must be for him to be sworn to secrecy. If I were him, I would be in solitude until the book release. He's so wonderful and talented!

Yes, Stephen Fry (British narrator) knows as well. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep the secret of the final HP book. Awesome though.

I have POA on CD with Jim Dale and I have to say I really had a hard time with it. The more I listened, the better it was.
I bought HBP and have to say he is wonderful. Perhaps it was just getting used to him or his interpretation. I think Hermione took a while to come along.
I love them now.

The audio books are really great. It is amazing how one man can give so many characters distinct voices and keep them all straight. I've purchased all the audio books so far, and they are definately worth a listen.

Wow! That's really awesome. Of course I'm really not surprised that he would be one of the few people on the planet who already knows how the story turns out. Jo and her publishers would want it ready for those whou couldn't otherwise enjoy the books. Quite frankly, I would love to listen to him giving a reading at some point. I always enjoyed having my parents read to me when I was little, because they always tried to bring it to life with different voices and stuff. l0l

Ha, I love Jim Dale. I'm glad someone so good was chosen to record the Harry Potter series. His voice is one of the few narrators' that doesn't put me to sleep.
It's interesting to think that he is one of the select few who knows ahead of the entire world what is going to happen. He is so cool though, he deserves it.

Jim Dale is my favorite, I think, to do the audio books. I've heard Stephen Fry as well, but I think Jim does it better as he does so many different voices and it gets more personal that way.
It must be so hard to keep quiet about what happens in the book, imagine, he can't discuss it with anyone! That would kill me.

I love Jim Dale! I used to listen to the Harry Potter audio books all the time when I couldn't sleep, but they just kept me up because of the voices Jim Dale created for the characters. I just wanted to keep listening to how he carried the story line. Of all the secrets their are in the world, keeping the ending quiet is probably one of the hardest things to do, since so many people are speculating over it.
