Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter series has obtained
a subpoena in the hopes of learning the identity of the culprit who posted scans of pages from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the web.
We at HPANA have been sent similar items, such as videos and images of the books, and we are working with Scholastic to remove authentic spoilers from the internet so that fans are not spoilt.

I hope they find out who did it and deal with them appropriately. I also hope that other media such as TV, radio & newspapers do not give away any spoilers for at least a week, to give time for the slower readers to experience book 7 at their own pace.

Instead of saying that the person told everyone the real ending of the book, shouldn't they say that he is just another liar posting silly comments on the web?? that would cause less stir and thus people would actually not know the ending of the book. cause now people who have read scans like that are like "oh my gosh thats how it ends!" and it ruins everything for them.

Isn't it unfortunate that some people take pleasure in ruining other people's joy? Wouldn't that be a lousy life to lead?

Come on people! Don't spoil the reading fun by putting up spoilers on the internet! It must have been some brainless idiot that put the scans on the internet! I hope they catch the person who did this.
I hope they don't spoil the fun for me while standing in line in London for Deathly Hallows, by shouting a spoiler!

wow , i certainly hope they find out who did that . They cant wait a few more days for a valid copy of the book ? Spoilers just ruin it . While some people enjoy looking at spoilers , it ruins it for the people who accidentaly come across it who dont want it spoiled for them .

The website with the scans was quickly removed. All Scholastic is doing, however, is confirming to anyone who looked at the scans that they are, in fact, real.
Most of the people I had talked to thought they were faked - a good fake, but fake. Now we know they aren't. That's kind of a bummer. I would have waited until the book was actually out before seeking legal action.

Oh man, they are so screwed! I mean seriously! Unless you're some kind of security-paranoid person then they'll be able to track them! I bet it was some dumb kid who's mum works in a book store, got their hands on a copy and now they're going to get charged with criminal offenses! HAHAHAHAHA! Suffer!

Wow, now I'm really scared to go to the midnight book release... I'm wearing my CD player in the parking lot walking to my car. If real pages were put onto the internet I'm sure all the wrong people saw them... I saw some supposed spoilers on facebook the other day, I just hope to God they were fake... *sigh*
I don't understand why all these idiots think acting obnoxious is "funny", or "cool".

Glad to see them pursue this. Have to say I just don't understand why someone needs to know early. It is only a few more days. Why risk for something that will be given away for free (even if you need to go to a library).

A friend of mine told me about this. That there were leaked scans from DH around the internet... i got so angry at that! (and he too, he told me he found them by accident) how can people like to spoil surprises for others! Even if spoilers are sad they are still spoilers! True fans want to remain completely "inocent" till they read the book! How sad, really... i really hope they find out who the culprit was.

it's stories like these that make me wish I had the self control to stay off the internet for at least a week before a book comes out and until I've finished reading it... hopefully I'll be able to stay away from all the discussions going on on other (non-HP) boards....
Hope they catch the person(s) who did this!!
