Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter series has obtained
a subpoena in the hopes of learning the identity of the culprit who posted scans of pages from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the web.
We at HPANA have been sent similar items, such as videos and images of the books, and we are working with Scholastic to remove authentic spoilers from the internet so that fans are not spoilt.

Good job, keep it up people. I keep getting myspace messages from my friends entitled "I'm going to ruin Deathly Hallows for you" and then I delete it. I don't care if they're joking or not, people don't understand how big of a deal it is.

Some people lead very lame lives. I for one would rather wait for the book and read it all myself.
I'm also glad HPANA is protecting against all of this. It will be good to get the book soon, we won't have to deal with this.

I happened across a YouTube video of a person "sharing" a copy of DH. I quickly went on to something else. I want to be surprised like 99.99% of the people out there.

I can't believe some news programs have said what the spoilers were!
Yesterday I found out that the real book had been leaked, and someone who was my friend thought it was funny to tell me who died and who didn't, saying he found out from the net. So he thought it was funny to tell me. I'm not going to speak to him anymore. If what he told me turns out to be true, then I think I may never speak to him again.
He knows how important HP is to me, and I'm sure there are millions of people for whom HP is part of their lives and is very very important to them. And for someone to purposely do something like this, or to post spoilers where they know fans will find them, they deserve only the absolute worst.
People who spoil it for others are the lowest of the low and horrible people.
The ones who put up the scans in the first place should be publically identified and shamed and I hope JKR has a team of overpriced lawyers that will grind whoever did this into the ground and punish them as far as the law will allow.
I think I will have a self imposed ban from both the news and the internet until after I have read the book. I don't want to even accidentally stumble across anything before I finish it.
And if anyone spoils it while I am getting my book, or while I am in the city after I get it, then I don't know what I will do. I may hit them. I thought of bringing duct tape to tape over their mouths, but I might get some extra long pieces so I can tape their hair too. That should hurt when they try to take the tape off.

SO THEY WERE REAL? DAMN GITS! I can't believe some people. Breaking in and posting spoilers. Thanks for cleaning them up HPANA. From what I've seen, newsreports have been keeping it quiet too - blurring the images and stuff. I'm glad. I just want to wait and have a complete and awesomely fun surprise!

I read a news report on this yesterday and it said that an 7 page epilogue was leaked onto the internet but i didn't think it was real but now... well i'm really annoyed because gave me the link to the site saying that they were rumours
But i'm keeping my mouth shut unlike the idiot who posted the information on the internet
i'm just wondering how they pulled it off, i mean security is overwhelming for the release of this book yet someone gets their grubby little hands on it :S
I hope they do find the guy who did it and lay a fat fine on him cos he really did ask for it!

I think that it is a sad world we live in when we have to fight not to have our favorite stories not ruined for us before they are even released. It is a sad person who would get pleasure from damaging someones enjoyment of this new book.

Well, I may understand the problem that the editors have, but I don't get the problem of the fans. The whole book was scanned and posted, so anyone could read it a few days ahead. What's the problem with that? I don't even think that the leak will cut the profits of the publishers, because those who read it in the net will anyway buy it. They must be very devoted fans to open page after page and read a text from a medium quality photograph.
As for the risk of listening or reading a single spoiler (who dies or the epilogue or something), isn't there the same risk on Sunday or in the store waiting in the line? I guess there will be lots of people who will buy the book, read the last chapter and start telling things.

I hope that Scholastic finds the person who posted the pages on the web.
I don't know how anyone could find enjoyment in ruining a great story for millions of people, many of whom would like to be surprised when the book comes out.
I hope that the culprit is caught and I'm glad that so many HP websites are becoming spoiler-free.

Good, what do these people really get out of revealing the story line? If somebody has a copy of a day after the super bowl and told everybody who won it would make the entire season less entertaining to watch because everybody would know the outcome.

Oh really! It's always the same. We believe, we hope this time it will be different, we'll be left without spoilers, and BANG few days to go and there is a whicked person out there who takes pleasure in ruining everything. I wonder if these people are HP fans as well or if they are just trying to get there names in the media, no matter the means.
It says that the HPANA staff got such things as well. Does this mean they are already spoilt. I would feel deeply sorry for them, and I do for all those who stumbled over the scans by accident.
I myself was spoilt when OotP came out, and I didn't dare to read the end for days, because Sirius was one of my favourite characters and I didn't want to read his demise.
I do hope they catch them.

I kinda hope that they don't get caught. It's really not that big of a deal-please don't send me hate mail!:) The only thing that I don't like is that they post it everywhere. Like if your looking up a recipe or something-all of a sudden there it is in your face. If you want to see, look for it, if you don't then don't look for it. I don't think that people should ruin if for anyone else, respect is a thing lost on today.
