Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter series has obtained
a subpoena in the hopes of learning the identity of the culprit who posted scans of pages from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the web.
We at HPANA have been sent similar items, such as videos and images of the books, and we are working with Scholastic to remove authentic spoilers from the internet so that fans are not spoilt.

I kinda hope that they don't get caught. It's really not that big of a deal-please don't send me hate mail!:) The only thing that I don't like is that they post it everywhere. Like if your looking up a recipe or something-all of a sudden there it is in your face. If you want to see, look for it, if you don't then don't look for it. I don't think that people should ruin if for anyone else, respect is a thing lost on today.

I do not understand why some people are so mean that they have to spoil something for others. We have waited so long for this and yet others think it is funny to ruin an event for so many others. How would they feel if they were planning a wonderful surprise for someone they loved and someone told that person about it. These type of people are only looking for their 15 minutes of fame and are feeling smug for what they have done. I hope they all get caught and find out what the real life consequenses are for breaking the law. I hope they are truly punished. They need to be made an example of.

It makes me so mad when people place scans of the book before the release date! It is unfair to everyone, especially the author. However, I do wish I was one of the select few such as authors who received one of the first copies. When HBP came out I went to a lecture by Sherman Alexi and after we started talking about Harry Potter and he said he got to read the book 3 months prior the release date.

Yes, yes. Saw this on the news. Although they blurred the text out, the book itself looked very authentic. Ugh...I hate it when people can't wait a few days for the book to come out. Is it too much to ask?

Isin't Scholastic, by ordering a subpoena, confirming that the leaks in fact are legitimate? I would wait until after the book comes out so as not to confirm the spoilers, which will attract more people to seek them out.

I really hope they get the losers who find it amusing to try & spoil it. Trolls like this probably don't deserve punishments like prison (seeing as how they are overcrowded), but should be fined. Hit them in their pockets.

Good. Again I'm glad to hear that the publishers are following up on this stuff. I mean come on -- how much of a loser to you have to be to do this? Get a life people -- and maybe look into getting some integrity too.

Hopefully they will catch this person. It's not fair for the rest of us for someone to post up scans of what "supposebly" are the pages of the real book.

I don't know if they have caught the person who did that but I sure hope they do and they get more than a slap on the wrist and a "Don't do that again!" scolding. That was just absolutely wrong! Some people don't use the brains they were given and they have absolutley no sense of right and wrong. Morals these days are completely stretched beyond their means. Why do people think they are above the law and can get away with this kind of stuff? GGGrrrrr!

'Subpoena' - that's a big word. That should be my word for the day. Okay, I don't really have words for each day, but if I did, that would definitely be today's. Oh geez, this is terrible I hope they catch the culprit, but is that really possible? Well, I hope the book wasn't ruined for anyone who was trying to remove the spoilers from the Internet.
