Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter series has obtained
a subpoena in the hopes of learning the identity of the culprit who posted scans of pages from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the web.
We at HPANA have been sent similar items, such as videos and images of the books, and we are working with Scholastic to remove authentic spoilers from the internet so that fans are not spoilt.

Oh, and one more thing! I've also heard very convincing threats that people are going to loiter or maybe even swarm all the bookstores they can... just to buy the book, read the last bit, and then scream what happens as loud as they can. It's like Half Blood Prince all over again, only this time, more than one person thinks it's funny. I'm planning on bringing earplugs, I'd rather wear them than hear some jerk spoil it for me. I was also considering bringing along something to throw at the culprits... Heh heh heh. Fighting back, you know? Maybe tomatoes... eggs... or small rocks. Stink bombs would be really appropriate, too. But yeah, I'm getting off the point. If this happens, they will likely be outside, in their cars, screaming to people that are just walking out of the store. So you've been warned. Bring weapons! Fight back! Throw things at them! I swear, I'm not usually violent, but these butt heads have got it coming!

A quote form Eragon, NymphadoraBlack, "You can't argue (or in this case fight) with all the fools in the world..." Like in the case of the HBP where some stores "acidentally" sold the HBP books early, there was legal action against them to prevent them from divulging information about the book. I wouldn't be suprised to see body guards around to prevent people doing what your discribing ;). Oh well... we'll just have to "...grit our teeth and get on with it..." (Ron Weazly, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).

Yes, but I [i]work[i] in a bookstore. Barnes and Noble. And the most security we can have are guards standing around the books, to keep people from getting them before they buy them. Once someone buys the book... they can be as rotten as they want. Including spoiling it for everyone else around them. I've already asked the manager, and the guards we will have can do nothing about this. Free speech, you know? But I will do something about it, if someone ruins it for me. They're going to get pelted by something.... I just haven't yet decided what I'm going to bring with me to work that night...

That about does it for me. No more forums. Kind of sucks since these are the final days to talk about theories and stuff but I don't want to risk reading spoilers, especially now that I know authentic ones are floating around.

Yeah, I saw the pictures on here...it was a thread in the 7th book section, the thread title was misleading & I opened the links and AGH there were pictures of the last chapter! I didn't read it though! I reported it, but it was already removed by the time I got my post typed up! Glad the mods are quick at spotting & removing these things!

And since the 21 is the date that has been set, we will wait thise three more days gladly! I just wish they would let us have these three last days in peace, after this book, there arent anymore.

There will always be senseless trolls who get a laugh by ruining other peoples interests. Frank Sinatra, George Orwell, Oscar Wilde have all stated this same claim.
Anyway, I appreciate the steps taken by the HPANA guys, per se everyone behind the scenes and the members, for trying their hardest to rid the website and the internet of spoilers.

I don't understand the attraction to post spoilers. If the idiots do it for attention, they can't claim it for fear of retribution. Perhaps some sites pay these clowns well to obtain the images. The hardest part I think is that they have to preship to stores and there are far too many employees (especially in the large chains) to have complete control...they are min. wage jobs and for some, esp. if they are paid, it's worth losing a job over.

I know of some people who got the whole book, but they are kind enough to not spoil it for those of us who don't want to know anything until we read the book.
I'm going to a release party but won't be able to get the book since I reserved it somewhere else. Hopefully no one will be cruel enough to scream anything out.

Man, that's just awful. Those people think they're being funny, but they're just being cruel. I know if someone told me the ending before I got to read it, they would seriously regret it.... Hopefully they'll be caught and get in trouble. Thank goodness for HPANA's anti-spoiler policy!!!

I hope people that try and spoil the story for the millions of fans are caught and punished. We have waited years for this story and if I find out anything about the book before 21st July I will be deeply upset.
I'm just glad that several of the top Harry Potter sites have got a very strict rule on spoilers - I hated that I found out the death in HBP before the book was published and so far feel confident that it won't happen again.
All I can say is if you don't want to be spoiled - Don't go on small independent sites but stick to the big sites such as HPANA, Mugglenet or Leaky who all have vowed not to publish spoilers.

I also am glad that they are trying to do something. As much as I do like to read the spoilers on things (TV shows)sometimes they are wrong and it is fun to get ideas and think up things on your own what could be the truth and what is fake.
