Is JK Rowling writing a crime novel? According to crime novelist Ian Rankin (a neighbor of Jo's) she is. Rankin told
a reporter at an Edinburgh literary festival that his wife had "spotted her writing in a cafe" and speculated whether she was "writing her Edinburgh detective novel."
UPDATE: Rankin has since said this was a joke perpetuated out of control by the press.

Well, if it is true. I can't wait! I love JK's writing styles and I'm sure whatever she does write in the future will be awesome. I do think it will be awhile before we see anything for JK because of comments she made in interviews after DH was released. It's ok. I'll wait!

Haha, is she? That's something, alright - creator of the boy wizard and his world - writing a Scottish crime novel. Well, I'd read it, just because JK Rowling wrote it. Well, I don't believe it - she said she was taking a break. I don't think her break would end in just 1 month.
I've never actually read a crime novel. I think I should.

Well that's a relief, though I think she could carry off just about anything with her writing! I have rarely been so enthralled with a writer's work, the way I have been with Jo's. I think I can safely add that goes for all of her readers!
