Warner Bros. has updated their 2008 Preview Press Kit with a description of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie and a picture
of Daniel Radcliffe as Harry.

Fantasy Adventure. Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

I have been afraid of these little blurbs lately too: "rom-com" or "funniest movie yet" or "Scrimgeour, Gaunts, and Smith cut" - I've been fearing it was going to get too light and fun when I agree, HBP is the second darkest book in the series with the final one being the darkest. I mean, Draco and Snape and the stuff with Tom Riddle is disturbing. But brilliant of course. And I've been afraid that they were going to do away with so much that it wouldn't feel like the same story. Goblet of Fire felt too fun and light in tone, and it felt slightly different.
But now with this blurb I'm feeling comfortable. I forgot that HBP is truly the funniest book (I'm dying to see the scene when Slughorn hugs Snape), and given the description above, I'm feeling confident that they know what to do with this book. They really set it up well - the threat of one student trying to make his "dark mark" on things, hehe, and the hormonal antics, and then the preparation with Dumbledore. They briefly establish Snape, however latently, as the danger Harry is suspecting within the school, and they establish Slughorn as the new big casting. As long as the film is at least 2 hours and 20 minutes, they spend a decent amount of time on Snape and Draco and the preparations with the Horcruxes, and the ending from the cave onward is as intense as it was in the book, then I will be delighted. If not, then I'll scream bloody murder!

Oh, and yeah, the picture is of Harry while he is holding the Marauder's Map and the HBP's book. But the map hasn't been wiped so I can't imagine he's going in to talk to a teacher or anything. And he's not in a bathroom. It looks like he's just entered a room in the castle, although I almost thought Hagrid's hut. Perhaps he's just gone up to Dumbledore's for a lesson? But I dunno, the book and the unwiped map are confusing me. I KNOW! It has to be the Gryffindor bedroom he shares! He's probably just walked in and maybe is about to talk to Ron? I can't imagine anywhere else he would go with the map casually unwiped, you know?

I thought it strange that no mention was made about any of the hourcruxes.
It seems like they are going to play up the romance quite a bit.
I certainly hope they keep in the scene where they go into the cave to get the locket, that's the most important part of the book, along with getting Slughorn's memory.

I saw this picture last night!! I'm so happy that we're getting promo photos from the movie already! I'm also very surprised, its so early in the filming and we're already getting photos. I can't wait until we get more! I'm happy Harry has bangs, his hair was extremely short in the last movie, he needs a little more hair.
